Probably fulfilled his partial guarantee so he was released to give us some flexibility in case we need it. He'll stick around with the D-Fenders I'd assume unless he gets an offer overseas or something.

Eric Pincus ‏@EricPincus
Lakers had guaranteed $100k of Harris' salary - that was all but used up - thus timing on waiver - unlikely indicating another move coming

@ramonashelburne
Lakers waived Elias Harris because he'd reached the # of guaranteed games in his contract. Don't read anything else into it

Think he would get Williams and Kaman PT? I mean if its always going to be one of the two playing I would like Lamar as he can offer a bit of both their games

In the past we've always made trades that came out of nowhere. This almost feels too obvious, thus, I am skeptical. Also, I don't think the Elias Harris move is part of any grand plan (unless they structured his guaranteed money to occur right at this very moment, all while giving them enough time to evaluate our pieces and shop for a difference maker......oh...my...god. Mitch, you maniacal bastard--you've done it!)

i think its obvious that its exactly as was reported, strictly about his contract. harris was signed to a 490K contract, of which only 100k was guaranteed, so around 20 percent of his salary for the yr. 20% of the 82 game season is between 16 and 17 games. harris got waived after the 16th game of the season. pretty clear cut.

It's obvious that they had to cut him, but maybe they planned it that way...

Dec15th is the end of the moratorium on trading recently signed Free Agents... Just a thought.

Wallace, Humphries, etc.. Bad contract filler to help make salaries match Pau's...
