Falcons Leadup
We are still in this. I'm on Optimist Ave. right now with Max Green. The Falcons suck, we should easily be able to beat them as long as we have Rodgers. We need a few things to go our way but we can still win the division.

Re: Falcons Leadup
If Rodgers is back and we run the table we can win the division but the margin of error is gone.

I'm right there with the original poster at the corner of Optimist Avenue and Not To Little Not To Late Street. No reason to give up on the season with the best player in the NFL presumably returning in a week. Most important game coming up next week is the Lions-Eagles game though, not the Packer game. We're playing the Falcons so with Rodgers playing we should win, against the eagles in Philly is the toughest game left on the Lions schedule, if they Win the window is pretty much shut...

The Falcons are pretty bad. I think we have a chance against them even if Rodgers is out. If Rodgers is playing, then I think we are a pretty heavy favorite.
Still hoping we win out, even if the odds are slim that we make it in. Get into the playoffs with Rodgers and you have about as good of a chance as any other team. All it takes is the defense to pick up it's level of play for a small stretch or have a few lucky bounces to win it all.

I'm not even really worried about the Defense if we can get Rodgers back. The D is on the field wayyyyyy more often than they are used because the offense cant keep the ball for more than 3 downs. If Rodgers come back I think this team immediately becomes dominant again. Not having Finely and Cobb isnt helping this teams cause either.

Re: Falcons Leadup
Obviously with Rodgers playing our defense is on the field a lot less and their weaknesses have less time to be exploited. Atlanta oo a cold Green Bay day should be, SHOULD be an easy win.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I am not a believer that 9-5-1 wins the division so it's hard for me to get too excited about this team going forward.

Rodgers and this offense can score with anyone in the league, of course they have a shot if they make it into the playoffs.

I can't believe anyone would disagree. Rodgers with our offense is capable of putting up 30+ four games in a row. If he gets hot with the talent that we have around him on offense that isn't out of the question.
The defense is capable of playing better than it has, especially since teams are forced to be more one dimensional if Rodgers is really rolling. Last time we won the Super Bowl we had guys like Erik Walden stepping up and playing well... it's not like it's out of the question.
I don't see a team in the NFC that scares me all that much with a healthy Rodgers. Seattle is down two of their best corners, the 49ers continuously struggle, I think we can score with the Saints, I think we can score on Carolina's D and no one in the NFC East is any good.

A chance sure,albeit a very unlikely one.
But to say they have as good as chance as anyone is insane.
If the Packers were good enough to beat teams like the Seahawks/Saints/Panthers/49ers with Aaron Rodgers they would have been able to beat the Vikings without him.

I really don't think the Panthers are much better than the Vikings without Cam. How is that team ever going to score points? They are basically talentless on the offensive side of the ball without him.
How good are the Seahawks on offense without Wilson? Most likely horrendous.. They lack options at receiver, they don't have an elite TE and we have seen Lynch on Buffalo when he has no QB... he isn't nearly the same player.
The Saints would be horrendous without Brees, just like we are without Rodgers.
The 49ers backup is Colt McCoy... I'm sure they'd be lighting the world on fire with him throwing to old man Boldin and VD.
Pretty much what I am saying is that you are clueless.

I have no issue with our offense other than maybe the line but Rodgers/Lacy can make them look pretty good so I don't think that's a big issue with Rodgers in there.Rodgers is the best qb in the league and we have some solid weapons,Lacy is a beast and a guy built for the playoffs.I love our offense with Rodgers.
And yeah,if we get into the playoffs we have a chance.I understand that but it's only a slim punchers chance because of how bad this defense is.
In the playoffs you are obviously playing good teams that have good offenses themselves, maybe not as good as the Packers but if you take an offense that is pretty good and put that offense up against this Packers defense they are going to look REALLY GOOD.
Plus the opposing offenses of good playoff teams can control the clock vs our defense and keep the Packers offense off the field and limit our possessions.
Then you have to take into account that these opposing teams in the playoffs all have much better defenses than the Packers.
So sure maybe the Packers score first and Rodgers gets hot and we score on damn near every possession and we win the game.
But we saw this last season in the playoffs vs the 49ers,they had a defense that could slow down our offense and a good enough offense themselves to set all time records vs our terrible defense and the 49ers offense was good but it wasn't THAT good.
And our defense is probably worse now than last season or at least playing worse.
Saying we have as good a chance as anyone is saying you realistically think we could do that that 4 times against 4 really good teams and win it all.
After watching the last 2 playoff losses and the last 5 games of this defense I just don't see that at all.

Re: Falcons Leadup
And I realize Rodgers might give our D some bail out,but enough bail out vs the really good teams in the playoffs?
Again I just don't see it,I want to see it trust me I do,but realistically I can't.

Yeah and we had guys like Nick Collins/Charles Woodson/Desmond Bishop/Bj Raji/Cullen Jenkins/Clay Mathews/Tramon Williams/Sam Shields/Aj Hawk all playing at or near pro bowl levels.
Not sure if you have been paying attention since 2010 but all of those guys are either gone or not playing at that level with maybe the exception of Clay.

If any of the teams you mentioned played with their back up quarterbacks vs the Bears/Eagles/Giants/Vikings/Lions I would bet they would at least win one of them.....and I highly doubt their defense would get absolutely humiliated in EVERY game.

I would agree if we didn't need a 16 point 4th quarter comeback against an on par/worse Vikings team.

Re: Falcons Leadup
I agree Twirl, that Vikings game was a pretty big measuring stick of how bad this Packer team is without Rodgers and how badly our defense is exposed when we can't score a lot of points..
I still have visions of Toby Gerhart gashing our defense for 91 yards when he had 95 all season going into that game.
Maybe one of our more winnable games in this stretch that Rodgers has been out,but I highly doubt we would beat the Falcons without Rodgers.

Re: Falcons Leadup
The resident I told you so's have somehow become even more unbearable since yesterday. Christ. Glad I just took a little break from here after saying a few things following the game yesterday. Regurgitating the same comments over and over and over and over. We get it. Funny thing is in that four game stretch where both sides of the ball were rolling, those same people suddenly had Internet connection problems or just had no access to this site for some reason. Funny how that happens.
And this game with Rodgers is an easy win. Glue a guy to Gonzalez and that's that. Or him and Roddy if he's even still playing this year. Not officially eliminated yet but they need to win out to even have anything resembling a chance.
