I vote Smith. For his career offensively he provides the same PPG as Monroe does (albeit at a less efficient rate) but gives you much more defense and shot blocking. In my opinion the defense and shot blocking well make up for the efficiency Monroe has over him and then some.

Smith at 13.5 M >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Monroe at 15-17M

Will Joe D package Stuckey and Monroe already?

I voted Mornoe because he has a better head on his shoulders.
Everytime smith does something positive he will go ahead and undo it with something stupid.
Monroe has his work cut out for him defensively, but he rarely does blatantly stupid things.

That bonehead is still the better player and can be a huge part of getting a team to and even deep into the playoffs. He's not perfect, if he were he would be LeBron, I'll take his flaws every time over Monroe's.

that boneheads worked out pretty great for us so far, him and bonehead number 2 have been so efficient offensively that we should trade our only efficient offensive option that can create his own shot because J Smiths this beast defensive player whos going to solve everything, but wait our defense is worse this year with Smith than it was last year without him. I think J Smoove checked out once he signed that check.

Smith is not a SF, how many times does that have to be said, why can't you comprehend that? Monroe is also not a PF, these 2 things alone make our defense terrible even without the other issues.

^@SCwhateva my initial post after the Josh Smith signing was the Three Stooges facepalm because I knew it was a fail, I said long before we signed the clown that he wasnt a small forward and we shouldnt sign him. now that DesperaJoe signed him im not going to change my stance that Dres D and Mooses O is the best fit for this team long term if we would just put the right players and coach around them. Dre and Moose looked good together in the 20 or so games they started together in Franks system at the end of last year.

It was 10 games they started together and they looked like crap overall, numbers mean little, not to mention we were playing teams that were tanking.

I still liked what I saw chemistry wise, they were surrounded by feces last year so its not surprising if it was tough to see. I hardly ever look at numbers unless im trying to prove a point, I prefer the eye test and I had hope after watching the games they started together last year.

We need defense. As much as I like Monroe, he is the odd man out.

This is totally inaccurate. Don't mistake Monroe's nice guy demeanor for being more intelligent. He makes just as many, if not more, low IQ plays on offense as Smith. But when you add in all the low IQ plays he makes on defense, he's actually the dumb one of the two, not Smith.

Monroe has been actually been a better defensive player than Smith has been this year, in addition to being a significantly better rebounder and a much more efficient scorer.

You believe Monroe has been a better defender at PF?

I have no real opinion on this subject, I'm just reading different viewpoints. Just making sure you are comparing their defense at the same position, and not Joshua's defense at SF compared to Gregory's defense at PF.

If you would've asked anyone around the nba last year who the better overall player is, Moose or Smith, almost all would've said Smith. Now somehow, we play him out of position, surrounded by others playing out of position with a questionable coach with wacky rotations and this discussion pops up. Moose needs to go for a 2 or 3 that can spread the floor.

Even if you think Smith is better, doesn't mean you should trade Monroe over him.

By the time Drummond (our supposed franchise player) enters his prime, Smith will be 33/34 years old and a shell of himself, whereas Monroe will be right in the middle of his prime.

You have a chance to compete with Drummond/Monroe for a long time if you put the right pieces around them. Trading Monroe just to make room for Smith in the short term will screw this franchise over.
