Monroe for Barnes
I've been working on finding a way to turn Monroe into a good small forward and this is what I came up with
Detroit trades: Greg Monroe
Detroit receives Harrison Barnes Donatas motiejunas
Portland trades Lamarcus Aldridge
Portland receives: Jeremy Lin Greg Monroe
Golden state trades: David lee and Harrison Barnes
Golden state receives Lamarcus Aldridge
Houston trades: Jeremy Lin and Donatas motiejunas
Houston receives david lee
We get a stretch four and Barnes for Monroe and I think each team gets fair value although golden state may be giving up too much
We become
Jennings/Bynum
Kcp/Stuckey
Barnes/singler/datome
Smith/motiejunas/Villanueva
Drummond/harrelson

Golden State is giving up a future all-star to get someone who's just a little better at being David Lee than David Lee, what's the incentive there?

It's a dumb idea but how is Barnes a future all-star? He's been awful. Are you banking this on his 16.4 ppg in over 42mpg over his last 5 or something?

Re: Monroe for Barnes
This is actually a pretty good trade, but unless some picks or very solid bench players are traded around, I don't see Golden State doing it. I'd love to get Barnes in Detroit though. I think he'd fit really well on this team.

Maybe he's a future all-star based on his playoff hype, but in all actuality he's been pretty average at best. Not to mention the fact that Lamarcus Aldridge is one of the best offensive PF in the league, not "a little better" than David Lee.

This is amazing, fair value for every team.....in a dream scenario I would trade Monroe/CV for Leonard/Splitter (wouldn't mind throwing picks and even KCP). Maybe not fair for the Spurs but the Pistons would dominate with that line-up
How about Monroe, CV and Bynum for Tyreke Evans, Ryan Anderson and Anthony Morrow? Monroe and Davis can both play their original positions. Evans has been a disappointment as as the small forward position, with him in Detroit, it provides more ball handling and playmaking for the team. CV would help erase the Pelican's signing in Evans and this forms a bigger front court for NO with Monroe, Davis and Jason Smith. For us, the shooting woes would improve by a ton. Even though Anderson is a PF, but he can switch positions with Josh so they can operate where they're comfortable. Evans and Jennings still have potential to be the best playmaking backcourt in the NBA, if Cheeks molds them into it.

Lee is so much more efficient than Aldridge it's ridiculous, LMA is averaging 22ppg on 20 shots, that's garbage, Lee very well might be the better overall player. Better rebounder, passer, smarter player and plays a lot harder.

Re: Monroe for Barnes
Barnes' ceiling really hasn't that high. He can't create much outside of a two dribble pull up or straight line drive. Still...the way things are going right now Monroe has not played up to the max he will demand.

I disagree. Barnes imo has a pretty good iso game. His back to back game and footwork already looks similar to Kobe's and still 21. Can't forget his athleticism aswell. Smart kid and level headed. Fun to watch.
As for the trade, value is pretty fair to everyone involved. Add Dorell Wright and I'm sure that trade will entice GSW even more.

If all this is true about Barnes then why has he been so inefficient, especially with all the attention his teammates demand?

I'm not expecting him to show up every game, I was basely talking about his potential. He's a sophomore and is still learning his trade. At 21, with that kind of skill set, you are looking at a 20ppg guy in 2 - 3 years.

Anybody can score 20ppg if they take enough shots.

19 guys averaging 20+ppg right now and 7 are doing it inefficiently, only one of those guys is on a winning team, you don't think there's something to that?

Re: Monroe for Barnes
Come on guys, Jeremy lin and Moose for a allstar. Ajax and Biglip, can we please require a post count minimum before creating threads. Absolutely no way Portland does this.

Unless you are implying that Barnes is a chucker, then I will continue rolling my eyes.

Re: Monroe for Barnes
Would asik in place of Lin make it a more viable deal for Portland?
