Why don't you tell us how Kevin Durant will become an unrestricted FA -- just start there please.

Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent the same way that Lebron and Dwight did---by not resigning with OKC (or whatever team he's playing with) before his current contract ends.

Aaah, well of course now I understand. I mean once you grok the deep meaning of the above post, it becomes obvious that Durant is behind all this maneuvering, these many plans. He's working his magic to make it possible to come here and have it look as if he's our savior, as if he's "taking his talents back home to DC."

Wait a minute... did I say "magic?" I shouldn't have written that word. The Magic is a good young team. No, Kevin... no -- turn your eyes away, don't look in that warm weather direction down where the heat warms your bones....

Wait a minute, did I say "heat?" I shouldn't have written that word. The Heat would really make a title likely for him. No, Kevin, no -- turn your eyes away. Focus into the distance, focus East. No... wait a minute, not that far away, not all the way to Ireland. They have Celt(ic)s over there.

Hmmmm, I hope we have contingency plans to make some backup moves to the backup moves. Get the scouting, the development all bunched up w/ the player development -- takes flexibility to do that. I know... maybe Singleton can go recruit Durant. Maybe he and his buddy Maynor and Seraphin.

One thing I know -- Durant doesn't want to keep playing in our building when he's on the road and keep getting beaten.

It's a sure thing really -- no, I mean it! Even Hands says so, and you know... whatever happens it's "what he's been saying all along."

You are right; that is how it would happen. And the fact that Howard left the Magic makes it a sure thing, I'm telling you. I mean... LeBron left Cleveland! I mean... isn't it obvious?

KD will become a UFA, there is no reason for him to take an extension prior to his current contract ending. No team that signs him will have an advantage. KD stands to make more in endorsements than in salary just like Lebron and Dwight. Championships and winning cure bad press. The only thing KD gains by signing early is good press. All we can do is try to make this team appealing to him when he is a UFA. I would not trade major assets to get him unless we were 1000% sure he'd stay.

Considering a year+ earlier, Andray Blatche was our PF of the future, can you really blame us for getting our hopes up?

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

I brought this up in the trade thread - would anybody else want John Henson from Milwaukee? The Bucks have a log jam at PF with Ilyasova (spelling?), Henson, Udoh, and even Sanders plays some PF.

One of them becomes expendable, and I dont like Ilyasova's contract. Henson is a great shot blocker and rim protector, and I think hes got some serious potential.

Anybody have any ideas on a deal that would appeal to MIL?

Wall - 15.7
Beal - 12
Porter - 6
Durant/Love - 17.5
Gortat - 12

Total : 63.2

^ This is a theoretical salary situation for our top guys. I assumed Beal gets an extension of 12 million PER, which could go either way really, but its realistic imo.

There's still 5 or 6 million to play around with for a bench too before we match this years salary obligations.

Websters contract is non guaranteed so I didn't know what to say about that. We're clearly going to have to pay the tax, but we're paying 70 million THIS YEAR.

So whats stopping us from offering the max again?
