GT: Hawks vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Mon Dec 2, 2013 4:43 am

When: 8:30 PM ET, December 2, 2013
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

We haven't been at our best lately and we're going to need to play a complete game if we want to beat the Hawks. Mike B and Ferry have done well with this team so far and we can't sleep on them.

No word on Diaw's status yet either.

Go Spurs!!

Sloppy start. Tiago's the only one really playing decent right now.

Hawks are switching off every screen we need to feed the post and take advantage of the mismatch.

Splitter makes Millsap look like a little kid when he stands next to him. Such potential.....

Atlanta is really impressive now. I like what Budenholzer is doing. They don't jack up bad shots all the time and play poor defense like the Atlanta teams we are all used to. There is always a sense of purpose on offense. I caught the back to back against Detroit a couple weeks ago since I live here and they handled them pretty easily both nights. With Rose going down, they could easily get a 3 seed in the East.

Wow.. Atlanta is the only team out of our carbon copies that actually looks like us when they play. Philadelphia and Orlando don't look like us that much.

Atlanta runs their plays well and those are the same exact plays we run. Philly and Orl runs our basic sets and often resort to Hero ball. Just guys trying to make their own plays. Also helps that Horford (offensively) is sort of like Duncan. Teague plays kinda like Parker too. DeMarre Carroll is their Bruce Bowen (also offensively). Louis Williams is the unpredictable scorer like Manu.

I can understand why Atlanta has a good record. Their offense look pretty solid.

Spurs West as Elliott referred to them as. I think they've got a long ways to go until they're on our level for 82 games, but they were pretty good tonight.

We suck lately. We were lucky to not lose this one. Is it outlandish to suggest that Beli has been better than Green and Leonard this season? He just fits with this team so well. If Green isn't hitting shots, he's pretty much useless out there. And Kawhi has been very disappointing so far. I expected more from him. I know it's his demeanor, but he looks disinterested on the floor. I guess that's the same look he has when he's super pumped too.

Timmy with the 20-20 game. He's rounding into form and looking more like he did last season. Guess it takes 20 or so games for you once you hit 37.

We got Minny next in Mexico City, and then Indy on Saturday. Both will be tough games.

It was really weird watching another team run our system against us. Budenholzer's done an amazing job with that roster, if they can somehow get a good wing player they're going to be a dangerous team in the east.

Duncan was unreal with the 20-20 game but we're just not playing good ball right now. I think we need to start Marco over Danny; Kawhi's been taking the tough defense assignments over Green as of late and our first quarters have been pretty flat all year long, Marco can help with that.

To be a "threat" in the East these days, ie. a 3 or 4 seed, you'll need roughly 35 wins based on the current standings. So maybe the Hawks have a chance to be a powerhouse sooner than expected, using Budenholzer, Ferry and any other ex-Spurs personnel.
