Our Starting Lineup Defense gives up the fewest points per p

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Tue Dec 3, 2013 8:04 am

That's right folks. Our staring lineup gives up less points per possession than Indiana's , Miami's, Chicagos.

What in the world does this mean?

That we don't have competent depth for one thing.

Link?

That's hard to to believe because just a few weeks ago the Monroe/Drummond/Jennings trio was ranked near the bottom of the league in defensive rating.

I believe the Monroe/Smith/Jennings trio was at the bottom as well.

Also hard to believe because we are 30th in FG% defense, and our starting lineup plays the majority of the game together.

And that despite having Monroe in the lineup??? :-)

I think we need more of a sample size before we can make any conclusions about defense. Regardless, some of the issues are obvious. We need to guard the perimeter better. Sharpshooting SFs can light up the defense.

That statistics shouldn't be taken at face value.

It doesn't mean a lot unfortunately. We're still losing games and sucking at D as a team.

Advanced stats doesn't mean a thing when you're losing games.

Sure it does. It means for example D is good, need to work on O.

Surprisingly this is true, just checked the data. Doesn't matter all that much considering our record. If our defense is doing this well however I have no doubt we'll bring it together

It is a promising statistic. Seriously, if the team develops a consistent offense (which should happen more and more as the seaseon goes along, and if our 3 pt shooters (Jennings, KCP, Billups, Gigi, CV, Harrellson, and Singler) start hitting that shot consistently - the team will be a lot better.
