Not feeling great about Dortmund's chances against Mainz. They've won two in a row, and with Dortmund missing multiple key players... yeah.

Dortmund will annihilate Mainz.
Aogo tears ligaments in his knee. So are injuries and Keller really going to bounce Schalke from the CL? The need the winterpause so bad. If they can turn Rode's head and then swoop for one of the many young german keepers who aren't terrible and replace Keller, they can still get in, but holy **** is this year crushing them.

We are going to lose by at least two goals today. Our good results lately with 3 wins in 4 games are a fluke.
We played 4 teams that will likely finish in the bottom third of the table and all of those wins were only by a 1 goal margin (except for Braunschweig).

I'm not a fan of Zieler. They should go for Trapp instead. Best young keeper we have in Germany.

Is something wrong with Bayern? 35 minutes played, Braunschweig is only down by 2 goals and has a shockingly high ball possession of 18%.

Ok, now it is
Edit: only 45 min in, and BVB has already subbed three times - Bender, Kuba and Reus out, Sahin, Micho and Kehl in. No apparent injuries, but Klopp does not seem a happy camper atm.

The Hoffenheim - Bremen game is a blast for people who like ice cold strikers and utterly inept defenders
4:3 after just 58 minutes, and I bet my boots that Petersen's strike just now wasn't the last goal. My guess: 5:5?

At least we managed that Dortmund had to waste time while being one man up.

Bayern lock up David Alaba until 2018.
Last week they locked up Boa & Kroos, now Alaba.

not so fast my friend. kroos and boateng haven't signed an extension yet. still negotiating.
but yeah, DAVID F***** ALABA signed a new deal with bayern.
best news since june.
that guy is not only super young and already one of the best full backs on this planet.
he's also a super nice and ultra laid-back guy and fan favorite.
and man, that alaba-ribery chemistry is scary.
on to another one, david

Wake up, girl. I wanna go surfing.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Discussion Thread
another great bayern story. you have to know that bayern president hoeneß is easily the public enemy no1 in germany at this point (tax evasion). he did 1001 great things for people, institutions or clubs suffering, hell he even helped dortmund to survive about a decade ago. but very few people in german history have faced the public hatred hoeneß is experiencing atm... whateva.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is just 18 years old, but he has seen greater experiences than many others in a lifetime. Both ups and downs. From his history to the shocking message that his father had only six months to live.
He has just been named the Danish Talent of the Year by the members of the Danish Football Player Association, and it is in an interview that he tells the story of the message that made him collapse. The prize he received was dedicated to his father, who just three months ago thought he was going to die within a year.
In the interview on the Players' Association's website, he tells how he got the shock of his life, when his father Christian Højbjerg was diagnosed with cancer. Danish doctors had given him their judgement that he had half to a full year to live. But not everyone gave up.
Højbjerg: "I was heartbroken. Unhappy. I went over to the club, and I just started crying. I was completely finished. Uli Hoeness picked me up. He immediately began to help me. He contacted the brightest doctors in Germany, got my father down here where they began treating him immediately. A week ago the doctors said that he has a chance. In fact, there is a good chance that he will survive. I'm sure that he will survive, and it's great. It says a lot about this club that they are there for me and my family."

Alaba was important. Always was a bit unsure, because he wanted to play in the midfield.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Discussion Thread
Realistically, the only way Bayern can fumble the next decade is if they botch the generational change of the FO. Beckenbauer already left the club, Hoeneß is obviously badly wounded, leaving only KH Rummenigge as the sole guy of the "old guard". But then, they already have one pretty capable successor (Sammer), and IMHO Kahn is interested, but will strategically wait a couple of years.
But on the player / coach level? No way. With Pep, Bayern is set until at least 2016. Also, I honestly don't think that any club on this planet can pay enough cash or offer enough perspective to lure a star away from Bayern. If someone offers e.g. 80M for e.g. Schweinsteiger, I dunno who will scoff more: Bayern b/c they don't need the money, or Schweini b/c he has no reason to move. The time of the "Ballack bolt" has passed.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Discussion Thread
A very important decision for my club will be made public in the next couple of weeks.
Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will announce his future plans which will either be him extending his current contract or leaving next summer to join Barca on transfer.
Spanish media(like always) is again reporting that everythings been decided already and that ter Stegen will sign a five year deal while Borussia will receive a transfer fee of 9.5 - 10 mil euros and some incentives for future success.
I really hope that we can sign someone like Oliver Baumann(Freiburg) if ter Stegen does decide to leave for Barcelona, which I think is likely.

I hope MAtS stays in gladbach, but if he leaves, Sommer is the most interesting name I've seen you linked with. He's gotten some quality CL experience with Basel, speaks german, the Favre-swiss connection, and if you pull off the move for his team-mate Schar as well, that would significantly bolster your defense.
Baumann and Trapp are the two german names I'm hoping you snag one of but having checked out some of his play Sommer's going to be a really excellent keeper in his own right.
