Greg Monroe and CV for Luol Deng?

Post#1 » by piston1423 » Tue Dec 3, 2013 11:56 pm

Would you guys being willing to do this? Sounds like the Bulls are willing to trade him. Deng is averaging 19.4 ppg 7.2 rpg and 4.1 apg. Why do it? It gives us the SF we need and moves Josh Smith to PF. Why would the Bulls do it? It gives them a good up and coming PF/C and they can finally get rid of Boozer and let CV walk. It also allows Butler to move to SF for them. Then maybe we could try to flip Stuckey for Affalo.

Pistons lineup:

Jennings/Billups
Affalo/KCP
Deng/Singler
Smith/Mitchell
Drummond/ Harrellson

Bulls starting lineup:

Hinrich
Snell
Butler
Monroe
Noah

I would try to get either Butler or Noah from Chicago.

Monroe, Charlie V, Jerebko, Bynum
for
Boozer, Jimmy Butler

Look, I'd rather get Butler but we'd never get him from Chicago. Why are people hating on Deng? He's got more than just 2 years left and he's playing amazing this year(from what I've seen) and Chicago wants to get rid of him. We could always get a good young SF in the draft or FA in the future too.

You guys are acting like he's old. He's only 28, he has at least 4 or 5 more seasons left in him.

Deng is another Tayshaun Prince, he doesnt fit with what he is doing

We need young players who want to run

Id push for Butler or Noah I dont want any part of Deng

Deng and Smith aren't a good fit together either.

he's 26ish, defensively sound, can shoot the 3 effectively and score the ball. he is underrated, the only problem is he's expiring. Makes 0 sense for detroit if dengs just going to walk after this year

Yeah about that. He'll be 29 in April and his career numbers from 3 are worse than Smith's.

Maybe if Deng was five years younger and not as brittle as my osteoporosis stricken grandmother.

Deng is good and he's not the old geyser people are making him out to be. However, as a result of playing on a Chicago Bulls team that never uses its bench, he has a ton of minutes on his body. To be honest I expect something of a Gerald Wallace type of decrease from him, although not at such a steep rate.

I would love Deng on this team.... Just not for Monroe. Swap Smith with Monroe and I'll do it. That would give us a high assist PG who can knock down 3's and take over games at times (Jennings), two two-way SF's who can hit threes and play fantastic defense (KCP/Deng), a legit low post player with great passing and rebounding (Monroe), a super sub 6th man (Stuckey), and potential superstar center to protect the rim (Drummond). That is some serious balance...

Monroe was huge for us down the stretch tonight vs Miami. He's a beast and still 23 years old.. No chance we trade him for Deng

only players I'd trade Monroe for are untouchable now so Monroe is pretty much untradeable

Smith for Deng sounds better to me. I just don't like the idea of a refined offensive bigman that is young and trading him away when he's showed that he can coexist with Dre last stretch of last season and some glimpses this season.

Also, having Monroe gives immense flexibility to the coach too since Monroe can easily play center if Dre gets in foul trouble and we'll more or less keep our "big" frontcourt. Smith can't do that.
