5 years is too early to see him develop a decent 3 pt shot?

I hope I'm wrong as I've been a defender in the past, but he has been so damn mediocre.

I've been on the fence with him for the past 2-3 years really. I like Hendo but I've never been in love with him as a Bobcat.

Although I have been more on the "move him for something else" side of the fence for 2 or 3 years than I have been sitting on it.

He always plays well after all the pressure is off. He will start putting up monster numbers in the last two months of the season and fool everyone again. He has been operating like that for years.

Took a look at his splits and can say that the last season has been the only one where this was the case. During the lock-out year he started out good and the year before he didn't play until Paul Silas saved him from the Clown.

Hendo is fooling everyone by being so average at everything that you can't call him bad and it's hard to cut ties with him for no reason.

There is a reason, though. He plays like Kobe and he's not good enough to do that. He stagnates our offense and takes stupid shots. He makes just enough to pull the wool over everyone's eyes.

We should not have extended him. I've said that from day one. With that behind us, though, we need a legit shooting guard starter ASAP. A spot up shooter would be fine. That's all he would have to do is shoot 3's an not be a swinging gate on defense.

Hendo can be mini-Kobe off the bench against second units. Or better yet, we should trade him for whatever we can get, even if it's a second round pick and an expiring.

Sometimes, player’s just get hot.

Whether you believe in the hot hand or not (for the record, despite being a ‘stats guy,’ I actually do believe in this phenomenon), probability just suggests that, given enough field goal attempts, every player will occasionally go on a nice little run.

On Wednesday night, Gerald Henderson went 6-of-8 in the first quarter against the Raptors.

Now, Henderson is a talented enough offensive player -he averaged over 15 points the past two seasons and last year reached the league average in True Shooting Percentage for the first time (his was 53.1, league average was 53.5). If you plug in his 44.7 percent career field goal percentage, you’d expect Henderson to go on a 6-of-8 run about seven percent of the time when he takes eight shots.

But not all shots are created equally, and part of the reason these runs exist, random or otherwise, is due to the defense a player is facing. On Wednesday night, the defense played a part, though Henderson also shot the ball exceptionally well early.

I loved watching Hendo out-play the 38mil for 4 years DeRozan last night. He's every bit as good as DeMar and I hope that his self-pride was the reason for him coming out blazing in the first quarter.

I didn't write up my post-game thoughts this time around, so I'll just say this here. Both previous games (against NYK and TOR) I had a feeling that we won't hold on to the lead because our offense without Big Al won't be able to keep it up. Well, it seems like the only way it can happen is if Kemba is having a great game (NYK) or if Hendo is playing aggressively (TOR). Oh and of course the bench helps, particularly, Sessions (even if he was ineffective these two games) penetrating, Taylor not being scared to shoot and Adrien attacking the glass like a maniac helps.

Henderson is a league average SG on a league average contract.

I have no doubt that when the time comes we can swing him for something average or package him for something decent but while he is contributing there is no need to do that.

Our team is far from a finished product and I'd expect moves to be made but I hope Hendo can figure out a way to contribute enough to stick around, even off the bench.

With his back to the defender, Henderson simply takes a leap toward the sideline with the ball in his hand and hits the deck, and it’s clear from the replay that the defender did absolutely nothing to warrant Henderson’s action.
