Re: MVP discussion thread
^ Indeed, the Heat were doing much worse around this time last years and Lebron was out of the MVP discussion for quite a good while. But then February happened, so lets see how he performs after New Years before the aforementioned conclusion/hyperboles

He's leading the league or is among the league leaders in a bunch of metrics. If he doesn't exude dominance, then who do you think does?

His raw assists and rebounds are a tick low because his minutes are a tick low. Otherwise, this is the best basketball we've ever seen him play, bad back or not.
It looks like he's coasting. He's not. He reached the point where the game has become effortless for him. Just enjoy the show.
Last year he was playing incredible. If this is the best basketball he's ever played, then it certainly is unimpressive and dull. Give me 2012-13 LBJ any day. That was GOAT level.
He's banged up right now and you can tell. I see a noticeable difference from when he is healthy to how he is playing currently.( with the bad back) As he gets more healthy I'm sure his level will rise to what we're used to.

Coasting and protecting his percentages? I don't know, but he certainly isn't dominance. Haven't really looked at any metrics, it's too early and the Heat haven't played anybody yet. But he took 15 shots in a losing effort, at home, against a team that's below .500 in just his last game. That's not really dominating.

So now an off-game = an entire season of what he's done?
You're kinda spinning your wheels here.

Lebron makes too many of his shots. Maybe if he missed more of them instead of passing it to his open teammates, he wouldn't look like such a D-league scrub.

He hasn't really had a dominant stretch yet, and I really don't understand why that's so difficult to understand. Sure, he's shooting well, but the Heat have a bottom 3 SOS. He can be the best without actively playing the best, it's ok.

LeBron has been out of this world offensively this year, and it is so obvious that he is coasting at times.
Defensively he's been lazy at parts.
By far the best/most dominant player this season, no question about it.

He's the best on the league and is still playing like the best in the league. Deal with it.

Aldridge might've just entered the top3, definitely top4.
LeBron James: "I feel real good about our team, why wouldn't I? I'm on the team,"

While averaging a career low in minutes. And still leading the league in PER.

He deserves to be in the discussion this year. The whole culture on that teams so positive. Even mo Williams seems to relevant again .

You need to keep hiding away Durant on offensively challenged centers or slow point guards, otherwise this type of stuff happens.
KD with that MVP defense, haha just kidding, all though you have to get worried when he falls asleep on the most important defensive possession of a game don't you?

Sure, if his defense the rest of the game wasn't very good and this was the first time any star player has fallen asleep and/or gotten lost on defense on a big possession in a tight game...nevermind it was a regular season game in December. I'm not excusing the play itself, because having your head up your *** on that possession was awful, but it's also not cause for panic nor should it prompt any level of overreaction.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:
Coxy wrote:I think with a PG like George Hill, they'd be better than current.

No one's making a big deal of it, obviously one play doesn't make a player a bad or good defender. Just when it was time for Durant to knuckle down he failed big time.

He Stills struggles mightily in 1 on 1 situations where the offensive player takes him in the post. Everything else has improved once again, this game is just not a good example

The last player I've seen dominate this much while putting in this little effort was Shaq during his Lakers years.
