Monroe, KCP, Charlie V

Why for Toronto? We cash in on DeRozan for a prospect, an expiring, and the chance to re-sign Monroe.

Why for Detroit? They downgrade slightly at PF to upgrade at SG, but likely do not want to commit big money to Monroe. They can continue playing Smoove at the 3, or use Amir off the bench and start Smoove at his more natural 4 alongside Singler at the 3 for much needed spacing.

LOL I highly doubt Detroit does this, but done deal on my end.

Why does Detroit do this? This deal is beyond lop-sided in our favor.

I think DeRozan for Monroe in principal is a good idea but it would have to end up something like DeRozan + Amir for Monroe + Stuckey/CV. And even then they still might not be interested since they drafted KCP to be their SG of the future.

A big 3 team trade:

Knicks receive Gay, Joe Johnson & Reggie Evans

Nets receive C Anthony, Lowry

Raptors receive Livingston, A Stoudamire, 2nd rounders and I. Shumpert

Rationale:
Both Knicks and Nets are in win-now mode this season. Knicks receive 2 'all stars' in this deal, and C Anthony is gonna walk as this season ends anyway. For the Nets, they can try to re-sign C Anthony , or as both C Anthony and Lowry walk, they have capspace immediately for the off season.

This move hopefully can help our Eastern rivals to win more games = we win in terms of tanking.

Trade 1: Amir and Novak for Asik

Trade 2: Lowry and Acy for lou willams and schroder

Trade 3: Gay and fields and NY first rounder for Boozer and Deng

Try and go for play offs and attract FA's and next year

Sign Bledsoe to the max
I really like the thought of a Bledsoe-DD combo.

Pg: Bledsoe, schroder, dj
Sg: DD, Ross, lou willams
Sf: Deng, DD
Pf: JV, Boozer, hansbrough
C:Asik, JV

That's an easy deal that nets us a young player in Snell for Lowry, while making us much worse for the rest of this season. Tank baby tank.

Hinrich Augustin Buycks
DeRozan Ross Fields
Gay Snell Daye
Hansbrough Acy Novak
Valanciunas Johnson Gray

You forgot Stone he is better than both DJ and Bikes. Liker the idea of getting Kirk. Kirk plus Hansbrough. A redneck tank.

Gay + Ross
for
Pierce + Plumlee

Then flip PP to Indy for Granger + Hill

Lowry + Johnson
for
Barea + Mbah a Moute + Mohammed + Dieng

Valunciunas/Dieng/Gray
Plumlee/Hansborough/Acy
Hill/Mbah a Moute/Fields
DeRozan/Muhammed/Stone
Barea/Augustine/Bykes

Good tanking team with some added young players (4 recent first round picks)

That makes a lot of sense to me. I think we'd be able flip Shumpert for a couple protected first round picks, or we could try to trade Derozan/Ross for picks. I think the Nets would have to give up some sort of future pick as well.

I'm not sure if it makes sense for the Nets locker room, splitting up Pierce & KG would be a bit of an issue, but hey, I think they're desperate enough.

I'm actually okay with taking on Amare's contract if there are good assets attached, if we're tanking a couple seasons anyway. if we can move Shumpert for picks, I think that he'd be worth it.

Questions:

1) Why would Indiana want Ben Gordon? And give up their starting point guard at the same time?
2) Suns are tanking/rebuilding. They aren' giving away 1st round picks
3) Minnesota JUST drafted Muhammad. What's the need for Lowry? So he can whine and moan about being a back-up? Or so they can watch him leave at the end of the season?

1) I should've specified which hill. I meant Solomon Hill, not George hill.
2) Phoenix owns 4 1st round picks this year. I think Derozan should bring a good player and mid first rounder this year. Also Derozan would look good in Phoenix next to Bledsoe
3) Lowry had his best year under adelman, they add depth and experience... Maybe They give up schved instead of barea

I like these deals a lot actually. Good pick up on some young talents. Not sure we need to swing Gordon for Granger and Hill, but whatever.

Why for Toronto? Small amount of salary relief and the hope that Lamb and/or Perry Jones become decent role players?

I'm looking at teams that are likely to make the playoffs and wanna strengthen their position..

ATL is currently paying out just $57MM - slightly under the cap and WAY under the luxury.
How does the CBA work here - Can they absorb Gay's contract for nothing? Trade checker says yes, but it seems a little odd.

If so, that Brooklyn pick might be a possibility.. assuming they win a few games and it isn't top 10 at the deadline.

The other 'bubble' teams are Wizards, Pistons, Bulls, Bobcats, and perhaps Dallas?

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed but if the Bulls arent tanking, why dont the Raptors trade Kyle Lowry to them for the Bobcats pick (top ten protected?)

(Lowry for Hinrich + pick)

Absolutely. Raps can go into full tank mode right away and have 2 good project pieces to work with; OKC gets some additional depth in Demar & Amir that can improve their chances of winning a title (not happening with current roster).

A core of Lamb, PJ3, JV & a top 5 pick in 2014 would be a good foundation. Throw in other potential young assets the raps could get from Lowry & Gay and a true, proper rebuild would be well under way.

Would anyone trade Valanciunas right now to Boston for their 1st round pick? Do you think Boston would do it?

Man, 2 shots at 1st overall is pretty tempting.

If we are trading Valanciunas for a top 5 pick I would rather do it when the draft position is set

What has Valanciunas done this year to show he's worth a top 5 pick in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory?

I mean I like Valanciunas and his potential, but man some people treat him like he's Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Hell, right now, he's not even the best big man in his draft class.

I said that because he mentioned trading for a potential top 5 pick, I don't necessarily believe a team would think JV alone is worth a top 5 pick

Wiz fan here. I posted this on the Pistons board and wanted your input. I think this gives you salary relief, helps your tank, and gives you a young top 10 pick from this last draft.

Wiz fan here. Not even close on Martell. He is the perfect backup wing for the Wiz and a team leader.
With that said, I think your team identity is quickly defensive minded with steals, transition points, and forcing trunovers. Getting a player with these traits while also spreading the floor seems like a Trevor Ariza to a "T". I am trying to draw together a 3 way to get you Ariza while sending out CV plus incentive.

Something like:

WAS In: A. Johnson (2/6.5M), S. Novak (3/3.7M)
WAS Out: Ariza (1/7.7), T. Booker (1/2.4M)

Det In: Ariza (1/7.7), T. Booker (1/2.4M)
Det Out: CV (1/8.6M), KCP (4/2.7M)

Tor In: CV (1/8.6M), KCP (4/2.7M)
Tor Out: A. Johnson (2/6.5M), S. Novak (3/3.7M)

Washington takes on salary for front court depth and 3pt shooter
Detroit becomes even longer and more athletic while getting a lunch pale PF (Booker) and 3 & D SF (ariza)
Toronto cuts salary and helps the tank while getting a top ten pick from this past draft to build with.

Thoughts on this framework?

Atlanta cannot absorb Rudy Gay outright because they are either at the cap or to close to the cap. They can't trade for him but not a straight up absorption.

You can only absorb contracts if you:

A) are far enough under the cap to absorb the full dollar amount of the incoming salary

Or

B) own a TPE equal or greater than the incoming salary.

Since Atlanta is too close to the cap to absorb $17million outright, they would need to trade pieces to take on Gay.
