#14 UCF Football (7-0) @ SMU
[vine][/vine]Now it's time for UCF to buck-up and play with some attitude at SMU on what will be a cold and wet day.
Time for the O'line to play like they are capable of

Still can't believe Louisville did us the favor.
If NIU wins tonight, we're basically locked into the Sugar Bowl which means I probably won't be able to go. Plus, I've already been to New Orleans.

Re: #15 UCF Football [10-1]: @ SMU (BCS Bound)
NIU laid an egg.
Their defense was less than pathetic. In the first half, you could not even see an NIU defender from the secondary on the tv screen.
The second half, NIU played a run prevent defense against BG, which is the first time I have ever seen a team go into a run prevent defense. Of course, it works about as well as a pass prevent defense.
Fiesta bowl is on the way.

Game time Dallas brings temps in the low 20's, and an icy field.
There were rumors yesterday that today's game might get canceled, but those rumors weren't true.
Ucf starts the game as an 11 pt favorite.
One side of the stands today will be closed because of ice, and SMU is allowing anyone wishing to attend today's game free admission.

Re: #15 UCF Football [10-1]: @ SMU (BCS Bound)
With the wind chill it's in the teens which makes it a tad bit worse than when we went to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl against Mississippi State. That was a miserable night.
I'm still holding out hope on Orange Bowl, but it's looking like Fiesta which sucks the life out of a lot of people who wanted to see the team. I'm still debating on the trip to Arizona. Basically looking at a thousand dollar trip (instead of a couple of hundred with a trip to New Orleans or Miami) which I'm not too thrilled about. Plane tickets to Phoenix (20-minute drive from Glendale) are over $500 and I don't see them dropping.
The travel **** situation for UCF reminds me of 2005. First bowl game ever and it had to be the Hawaii Bowl (**** you, Prater). Epic game, few UCF fans traveled. I was a senior in high school but I remember how many alum stayed in Orlando to watch that game on Christmas Eve.

I don't see a scenario where we got the Orange Bowl. It's an ACC bowl and they'll prob take the leftover SEC title team or Alabama due to to filling up hotels, having the fans travel to the game and tv ratings. It looks like it's gonna be the Fiesta Bowl, which is a blessing in disguise.
Ideally we would play Oklahoma State and pull out another heart stopping win. It looks good for any potential Big12 expansion that will happen in the future. It puts UCF in that "Can't Miss" category TCU was in a couple of seasons ago. Short term it sucks because I don't think the fans will travel nearly as well as they would have for the Sugar or Orange, but long term it puts the team on the Big12 radar which would be HUGE.

I agree 100%. I think the Big12 is our most likely option to move out of the AAC in a few years.

It would take at a minimum having Alabama going to the NC game

Some potential Longhorn revenge sounds appealing right now.

I was hoping for the Oklahoma upset, now we need Texas to do the same..
Matching up against OSU or Baylor would be brutal.
