We unload Rudy and take back a tank contract with Amare... add young trading pieces with Porter and Shumpart. Unload Fields for Ariza's expiring

Why for New York

Unload Amare and get production from Nene, who has played with Melo. Get a real starting PG

Why for Washington

Win now move to get vets in the locker room and a real starting SF

So you are arguing that the Wizards locker room will improve by dumping respected hard working vets like Nene and Ariza, and adding the selfish chucker Rudy Gay?

Wiz fan here. I posted this on the Pistons board and wanted your input. I think this gives you salary relief, helps your tank, and gives you a young top 10 pick from this last draft.

I don't mind this. What did Detroit fans say?

Detroit fans don’t like it and are more comfortable with CV+ (a future protected 1st, Siva, or Singler). So which of those look most appealing?

Well Detroit can't trade their 1st until 2018, so I would want some prospects like Mitchell and Siva

Just saw that there could be some action between dec.15th and 19th because it would allow the players to be eligible to be delt again before the feb.20th trade deadline. Any player aquired on/after dec 20th isn't allowed to be traded again till the offseason. Which is huge because it's so early now that if we suddenly put ourselves out of top 10 pick range by fen then we might push for playoffs

Ok, here is the scenario come Dec 15. It's a monster.

Brooklyn's death spiral is evident, as is the Raptors desire to tank. Indy however, continues to look strong but possibly not Heat-beaters- so recognizing they could use a little more help while actually shedding long term salary, they go for broke:

To Toronto: Granger (exp); Terry (1), Mahinmi (2) OUT: Gay, Fields, Lowry
To Brooklyn: Gay (1); Fields (1); George Hill (3); Chris Copeland (2), Indy pick OUT: Pierce, Garnett, Terry
To Indy: Pierce (exp); Garnett (1, with a no-trade clause); Lowry (exp) OUT: Granger; Hill; Copeland; Mahinmi; pick

Coincidentally this works in the trade checker post Dec 15 and pending KG waiving his NTC

Rationale:
> Raptors rid themselves of Gays deal and option taking on Grangers expiring. Terry has 1 year left at 5.5 mil, but the Raptors due him a favor and buy him out (fittingly). Mahinmi is a 4mil/y deal only. Quite manageable.

> Brooklyn give up on the experiment and eat Gays deal (who else could afford Gays option but Prokorov?), but get back some young talent in Hill, Copeland and an Indy pick (likely late). Field's 1 year deal isn't immediate relief, but is hardly cumbersome for what he might bring. One must think however this would lead to an inevitable Deron Williams deal? But what better way to start the rebuild then by moving him too and grabbing some more young assets (and movable contracts)? Essentially Brooklyn goes nuclear but not without keeping a decent core for a rebuild. (Does Sacramento say no to Deron for Cousins and Thornton, putting Williams beside McLemore)???

> Indy parlays Grangers expiring into Pierces expiring, but gets the guy who is more likely to return fully sooner. Hill is a loss to be filled by Lowry on his expiring deal- hardly a drop off there; Garnett is of course the big prize. Hibbert, West, Scola, Garnett as your rotational bigs... good luck that that Miami.

Anyhow an extreme scenario predicated on some notions, not the least of which is that first round picks in this years draft will be gold and therefore Toronto get no love in that regard, but instead lands cap relief options from which the rebuild can begin in earnest.

with Gay's value so low we only really have one method of tanking which is to trade Lowry and let Augustin start and get torched.

I see two angles one has be noted already

1) Lowry for Iman Shumpert + Beno Udrih

or

2) Lowry + Gray for Nash (buyout) + future draft considerations

Hopefully I'm interpreting this correctly, but going by Realgm's traded pick debits/credits, these are the teams that can legally trade a 2014 or 2015 first-round draft pick during the season (regardless of whether it's protected or not):

Atlanta, OKC, Boston, Orlando, Chicago, Phoenix, Cleveland, San Antonio, Houston, Utah, Milwaukee, & Denver (and of course Toronto)

Fields 6.25mil
for
Joel Anthony 3.8mil
James Jones 1.5mil Expiring

Or swap in Lowry and add this pick

2014 first round draft pick from Philadelphia

Philadelphia's 1st round pick to Miami protected for selections 1-14 in 2014 or 1-14 in 2015; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Miami by 2015, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Miami [Miami-Philadelphia, 6/28/2012]

I'm still hung up on that Boozer trade I suggested. If the Bulls get Rose back for playoffs (wouldn't bet on it, I know):

Rose/Lowry
Demar/Heinrich
Deng/Butler/Dunleavy
Gibson/Acy
Noah/Muhammed

Cmon, thats nice.

A trade that can possibly save the season..

Fields, Hansbrough for Ilyasova, Ridnour

Raps get a stretch 4 who can actually playmake and a true shooting backup pg.. Bucks cut ilyasovas contract and tank

**** that. We're 6-12, why would we want to save the season?

Hey Raptor fans, quick trade proposal from a Wizards fan (BTW, I love your forum, best supported on Realgm! Turbozone is a genius with his sigs!)

Novak for Maynor+Seraphin/Singleton (one of)?

You guys shave off Novak's last year as Maynor has a player option this upcoming year (which he will undoubtedly pick up), while Novak has 2+ years remaining, while Seraphin/Singleton are expiring.

The Wiz can use a stretch PF in Novak, and they can use the open roster spot to call up a d-league PG.

Raps out: Gay, Amir, Novak, Gray, Augustin
Raps in: Asik, Fredette, Motiejunas, Hayes, Salmons, balloon payment,6.5 million TPE.

Rockets in: Amir, Novak, Augustin
Rockets out: Asik, Motiejunas

Kings in: Gay, Gray, 3 million cash from Rockets
Kings out: Salmons, Hayes, Fredette

Salmons gets bought out so he doesn't have to play for this God-forsaken team. He only has 1 million guaranteed for next year anyway. Motiejunas is an ok prospect. Fredette can play backup and perhaps salvage his career, if not no problem, he's expiring. Asik can play centre with JV at power forward in the Raptors version of the "jumbo lineup". If JV and Asik both play 30 minutes a night, they would only need to be on the floor together 12 minutes. If it doesn't work, those 12 minutes could be key to ensuring more losses. It would work better than it did with Howard I'm guessing or he can just be moved on to another team.

The real mystery is whether the Kings will be willing to trade Salmons, Hayes, Fredette, and a little under 5 million in cap space for Gay and Gray. I say it's possible. Houston gives up cash to compensate for Asik's balloon payment in final year but it goes to Kings to compensate for Gay's contract.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I wouldn't do it. Novak is on a good deal. He's worth more than expiring contracts, not necessarily to us but to a playoff team needing a sharpshooter. As well, the cap relief would be pretty minor and not that beneficial for this off season. I'd rather hold on to Novak.

Counter proposal...

Wiz get Novak, Gay, Stone or Buycks(one of), and their GM fired

Raps get Ariza, Vesely, Saraphin, Maynor

What say you?
