This season he's putting up 14.8 PPG 8.9 RPG and 2.3 APG
Last season he put up 16.0 PPG 9.6 RPG and 3.5 APG
In 11-12 he put up 15.4 PPG 9.7 RPG and 2.3 APG
It will be interesting to see how he performs statistically this season... With Drummond being a monster on the boards and Smith being solid there as well it looks like this could be Greg's worst rebounding year of his career.
And his scoring is down too with more options out there on the court... with Monroe, Dre, Jennings, Smith, and Stuckey all scoring 12+ Monroe isn't getting as many touchés as he did last season.
Can't help but wonder how much his numbers declining this season will hurt his upcoming FA.

Re: Greg Monroe's numbers are down...
yeah, I kind of expected this with all the talent added around him. Which is why I was surprised his agent chose pass on the extension when they had the chance.
You could justify a max deal for a young big man avg 16/10/4 at 23 yrs old
15/9/2 at 24 yrs old doesn't quite evoke the same excitement to potential FA suitors
You have to think Dumars had this kind of planned out too. He knows how players stats go down the more talent they have around him. So by stocking talent around Greg, not only does it improve the team as a whole in the present, but also had a great chance of lowering Monroe's individual stats, allowing Joe to resign him to much fairer deal (if he chooses to).
I don't like the idea of Monroe at 14-15 mil/yr, but Monroe at 10-12 mil/yr sounds pretty good. Based on his numbers right now, that's about all he's worth too. So here's to Moose's numbers going down and the teams' going up.

Monroe at 10-12 M/per would be a steal. I have a feeling he's gonna get a max offer from another team to be their starting center but which teams out there will have the cap space and need for center?

I'm willing to bet that he doesn't get anything less than the max regardless of how he performs. There's no way Dumars gets a steal like that.

Re: Greg Monroe's numbers are down...
One ball, one rebound, one shot at a time.
Surrounding Greg with Drummond and Smith and everyone's raw numbers go down a bit as they're three big time talents competing for that stuff. (Which makes Drummonds improved numbers even more mind-boggling - crimminy, what a monster!)
Don't look at individual numbers, look at the team numbers using advanced stats, and the other key stat: wins and losses.

His efficiency is up, TS%, Offensive rebounding (barometer of effort), overall win shares is up, and Turnover % is down. That's what you like to see. A guy becoming more efficient when more talent is put around him.

Exactly. I'm not sure how 16/10/4 is a sure max and 15/9/3 with less opportunities but higher efficiency is a risk at a max. If that's the case, that 16/10/4 wasn't max to begin with.

USG % down too.
He's playing well, hopefully with his raw stats are down, teams will not throw him max but I've doubts about that. Someone desperate team is going to do it.

Monroe is definitely getting a max deal. Will it be with us?

IMO, we'd be winning more games if Smith took Monroe's 11 FGA per game and Monroe took Smith's 14 FGA per game.
Only a foolish GM would think Greg is worth less than his 4/60 max because of his point and rebound total going down because his shot attempts have only gone down because of a SF thats shooting 39%FG on the season chucking up 14 FGA. Jennings needs to take less shots as well.

Re: Greg Monroe's numbers are down...
He's generally playing further away from the basket, so his rebounds have taken a bit of a hit. His scoring is down, which is expected when your new teammates are Jennings and Smith, who "get theirs" first.
His consistency is what's more concerning. He's had huge games, and complete stinkers. His overall stats don't pop out as much as the inconsistency of his play.

^ this man, sense he does have
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
