Wiz trade Maynor+Seraphin for Novak+2014 OKC 2nd rounder that the Raptors have?

Wiz can then sign Pierre Jackson from the D-League. Novak expires alongside Nene, so he wouldn't hurt the potential Durant Dream. Novak would strictly play as a stretch PF, and he'd be a great fit with Wall getting him open looks.

I LIKE this idea. In general, I've been against trading expiring contracts for a mediocre stretch four like Copeland or Bass, but Novak is a different story. That guy can SHOOT, and he has an insanely quick release. He's only a situational player because he can't really defend the PF position, but man would he open up the floor for us. I'd love to have him in the game during critical offensive possessions. His salary is pretty reasonable and Toronto looks like they're ready to blow it all up so they'd probably be in favor of the deal for the cap relief.

I don't think we get that 2nd rounder if we stick them with Eric Maynor though. Also, we would have to wait until December 15th to make the deal.

So only a week away before we can hope for some resolution to cleaning up the bench. Kevin is clearly getting moved. I think they are done with him. Time to clean up this bench.

As for Pierre, I thought he went to France ?

Ahh, here he is.

I agree that Seraphin+Maynor for Novak works in a vacuum. But it doesn't solve our backup PG problem. Any chance we could flip Novak+filler for backcourt help?

He's never been a good rebounder for a PF but that is not a big problem if paired with Gortat. Looking towards next year, we could use bird rights to sign Gortat and Ariza giving us a rotation 7 deep:

That's a very good two way team, with deadly knock down shooters at almost every position. The obvious hole is back up point guard, maybe we bring Sato over and sign another PG like AJ Price for the minimum. We would still have GR2 for wing depth.

At 25, Thad should have plenty left in the tank going forward and is signed for the next 3 years with an ETO for the final year.

Honestly, the type of move that doesn't get mentioned enough would be finding a way to get Evan Turner here. All these line ups like above still lack a ball handler other then Wall. And SF is a great place to add one. Ideally, Webster and Trevor A are your power off bench players.

Wall/Pierre
Beal/Webster
Turner/Ariza
Nene/Ariza
Gortat/Okafor

Just not sure what it would take to get Turner. Otto plus anything else we have doesn't seem to do it. And hard to see Philly trading him But he might leave via FA.

Anyway, you need a ball handler at SG or SF. If not one of the starers, at least off the bench. Beal, Webster, Trevor A and Otto really doesn't add up. And we need to draft better. We have to get some locked in long term production on good contracts. Beal and Webster are about the only two contracts I like.

Sure would be nice to have an open roster spot

get Pierre Jackson? I think the Pelicans have his rights, offer a '15 2nd rounder. Go from there. If you can turn in Seraphin/Maynor intop Novak and Jackson I say for it. Then follow up with Singleton for Reggie Evans as a backup center.

Jackson
Webster(when he returns)
Novak
Jan
Reggie

would IMO be a very functional 2nd unit. Drive and dish with Jackson, and elite shooters takin 3s...and two good offensive rebounders.

Yeah, Nene has to get moved to the bench. I promoted that idea a lot before and now its painfully clear they have to do it. They can't have him going out ever 5 games and changing the starting line up. If all that rest over the summer didn't heal that foot enough to play without pain, you can't start him. He is still a really valuable player to the team though. So the best way to keep him active is to move him to the bench and play him 20-25 minutes.

I don't see where they have a choice.

Trade Kevins S, Singleton, Booker, Glen and Maynor. I want them all off the team.
Hopefully they can do some 2 for 1s and open some roster spots.
Time to clean up with bench. These faces are stale
Bring on Pierre. Kid is a spark plug player.
Trade Nene for Young or someone if you can. I like him but they need a young strong big.

To late to bring back Crawford. Boston isn't letting him go cheap anymore and we can't overpay for a player we dumped.

I think they can remake this team during this season. EG doesn't suck at trades. Since this isn't a draft, we still stand a chance to see something that makes more sense.

And bring back the Othyus and someone track down James Singleton

I just think Turner is a really bad fit on this roster alongside Wall. With Wall being a bad outside shooter, it is absolutely critical that both our SG and our SF be deadly 3 point shooters. I think Turner is a much better fit on any number of teams, which means those other teams are likely to outbid us to retain him.

Trade Ariza?

Opinions?

Resigning him would be good, just can't over pay to do it. Trevor A is legit. He is this good. He just needs another shooter like Beal or Webster out there and a PG like Wall that can feed him. He isn't a KD. He needs the right players around him. And its because he isn't a complete stand alone SF so you can't pay more then 5M or so for him. He isn't as good as Evan Turner as a pure SF. He could easily be a back up SF on a good team. As that he can fit on a lot of teams, but then you aren't getting this kind of production.

He would play behind the ball handing complete SF. If not, you need your stud ball handing star at SG like a Kobe if you have Trevor A starting on a great team. The Wizards have neither of those players here. So I'm not sure what team there are out there that offers him the idea scenario he needs to play at his best and that is also good enough to make a lot playoff noise. Trevor A should be a 5M player. I think that is his fair value.

LA could really use him. But what do they have that we want ?

I can't tell what the right move is because I don't have inside information on Otto. But from the outside looking in, Otto would have to have a lot better handles then Trevor A in order to make it a clearer decision. And if that is true, Otto needs to show he can produce quickly. He can't be a 3 year project.

Problem is, we need to add more ball handing and that needs to happen between the SG and SF position. Beal, Webster, Trevor A and Otto don't have that between them.

At this point, we should resign Ariza, and trade Porter ASAP. Porter was a stupid pick by a moron of a GM who tried currying favor from an Owner who shares the same alumni as Porter. Its pathetic and represents the lack of fiduciary duty that a GM should have to his team.

I'd trade Porter for Frye & our pick back to be honest. I think Porter will be an epic bust. I called out how I thought Giannis had MUCH more potential than Porter does. There is no doubt Giannis will be a much better player and is already more highly regarded in the NBA.

Seriously, if I owned an NBA team, i'd NEVER allow a GM to be in the final year of his deal (well, I'd also persnally reveiw every roster decision (with consultations with Nate, Dat, CCJ amongst others :) ).

Its a recipe of disaster to allow GMs to serve their own self interest. I'd force them to always look for the best interests of the franchise. Paying an extra 500k (whatever EG makes) is far less painful to a team than drafting Otto Porter b/c he went to the same school as the owner.

So you use one game to from a players rookie season to project whether a player will be an "epic bust." Didn't think I'd prefer EG to some of the posters here but hey you learn something new everyday :P

Nah, I've been amongst the most vocal Porter critics. I thought it was a horrible pick. ( hope I'm wrong, but Porter doesn't pass the eye test at all. The pick NEVER made sense with Ariza & Webster on the roster. Ariza, Webster, and Beal all can rotate amongst the SG & SF. It never made sense to waste the #3 pick on the next Tayshaun Prince. Either take Noel, trade down, or trade the pick for a vet. What's the ideal SF next to Wall & Beal? A 3&D SF (which Webster & Ariza are). Why waste the #3 pick on that?

The glaring need of a competent big warranted taking Noel.

I was ok with taking Porter at the 3rd spot cause I assumed Noel wasn't going to be there. I also didn't project Ariza actually getting better at 3 pt shootin at 28 years old but it is a welcome surprise and a bit of a gamechanger.

If you think we should have taken a big because we NEEDED a backup big, I perfectly agree (which is why I was ecstatic that Noel was there). I accepted the fact they passed on him because I still believe Porter at 28 will be better then Current Ariza at 28. And also, the only bigs from the draft who actually look worth a damn are Adams (woot wizD) and Plumlee. Both Zeller and Oly have looked fairly bad. Len is still INC.

Criticism directed at the picking of Porter is fine cause we had more pressing needs, but criticism because YOU think he's a bust waiting to happen comes off as presumptuous and asinine.

Is Otto a 3&D guy?

In college, he passed well, defended well, shot well from both three and mid range. Hes more of a jack of all trades than a 3&D guy, but id still go with Noel

Getting back to the idea of trading, being a backup who's gotten less than 10 minutes for the last 3 games for Charlotte usually means you're lucky to be in the NBA, and this guy has seemingly fallen way short of expectations, but Bismack Biyumbo (sp?) is a player I'd go after - using the Drummond factor. He's got the NBA body with tremendous length and strength, rebounds very well (13.8 per 40), and surprisingly has outstanding eFG and TS%'s - but on very low usage - which shows he understands his shortcomings. He's not killing the offense - and gets only 1.1 to's per 40. He just turned 21 in August, so there's room for growth into a Tyson Chandler level player. I'm not sure what the right trade is, but considering his PT has decreased to under 10 minutes a game lately for a terrible team, his trade price can't be very high.

Bismack would be an interesting lotto ticket.

He's actually the guy I wanted at 6 after Valanciunas got picked. He was supposed to be the next Ben Wallace.

But I wouldn't have high hopes. He's supposedly a completely useless offensive player.

We've got to find a way to deal for Greg Monroe. He could put this team on solid footing for once. Detroit has the money to match offers. And they've got two big expirings in Villenueva & Stuckey so they can definitely deal.

They've got Toney Mitchell waiting in the wings and Josh Smith would be best moving to PF (and he's untradeable). Monroe is an attractive trade asset. And Dumars might get fired if his team tanks. The path to the third seed is definitely open to them.

But what could we deal to get him? I don't really see a package that makes sense.

Have no interest in Monroe. He's an utterly incompetent defensive player. He's Al Jefferson 2.0, except he's a way better passer. You don't win in the NBA with bigs who don't defend.

But he's one of the top big-men in the league in steals per game, plus Gortat is a good defender next to him.

Al Jefferson isn't a great comparison, as Big Al plays only with his strong hand, where Monroe plays with both hands.

Id deal for him any day, or sign him in RFA.

Henson, Monroe, and Larry Sanders. Those are the three bigs I want
