Nope. There is literally no chance we trade another star PF to the Celtics. Not enough of the right assets, and fans would probably revolt.

Only if you give us every brooklyn draft pick you own. And a couple of yours.

I'd take this deal in 2014 offseason if this team doesn't make the playoffs. And I'd ask Rick to retire.

Unless that's a top 3 pick, nearly every team would outbid this offer

This team is clearly not very good. 8th seed is our championship.
Adelman needs to retire, Love's value needs to be maximized in trade before next season starts.

Sign S.Brown or R.Hamilton. But do something soon, and fire Adelman. JUST DO SOMETHING BEFORE IS TOO LATE

Agree.
And if we cannot acquire a #1 scoring option for this team, then we really have no choice but to go this direction with Love ... this is not gonna work as is. As far as Adelman goes, I think its all starting to catch up to him.
So...
1.) We will not win in the playoffs without a go-to guy ... year after year after year but no change.
2.) We don't have a gamer-type team ... Rubio don't have the fffense right now, but he and Brewer are the only two gamers on this squad - in my book - night in night out.
3.) Take a chance ... we are not good enough right now - have some balls and make a move. Look at teams serious bout championship caliber play ... they never stop swapping spit until they can move the peg. We don't have that drive here in MN it seems.
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Re: Kevin Love Free Agency/Trade Thread
I don't want Love gone, and don't see it happening any time this year anyway, but what is the best package everyone can think of in a Love trade? I think the teams that would really be interested in him are Houston, LAL, SAS(Possibly), PDX(Not as likely with LA playing like he is), Boston, Cleveland, OKC?, others?
I think our best trade parters would be OKC or Houston, both likely getting a third team involved. If we trade him, we would have to only take a Deron Williams type package, no? No matter what happens with Love, I think we will nee a big trade, something to shake things up. How about we trade for KD!? I can dream, right?

Re: Kevin Love Free Agency/Trade Thread
If Knicks continue to suck, how about something around Faried+Knicks 1st for Love with Denver? I would love to see Faried next to Rubio and Pek and if Knicks pick is top 10 in this draft we get a shot at a really good talent in one of the best drafts in a long while.

Faried is a role player who is about to get paid. Pass.

Re: Kevin Love Free Agency/Trade Thread
Saw this on the trade board:
I think that this type of deal could be interesting depending on what we subsequently do with Martin and Pekovic. My goal would be to trade them for additional help at SF and to move up in the draft with our pick to get Joel Embiid.
A roster of:
Rubio/ Andrew Harrison (Dallas Pick)/ Price
Hayward or Lamb/ Brewer/ Shved
???? (Green, maybe?)/ Mbah a Moute/ Muhhamad
Ibaka/ Cunningham/ Hummel
Embiid/ Deing/ Turiaf
would be pretty good, with a chance of being great depending on Rubio and Embiid developing.
rugbyrugger23 wrote:Best Love trade is Love to OKC for Ibaka.
After that the variables get endless. OKC ideally would send Lamb, Jones, Adams, picks some combo of to Wolves or ideally third team netting Wolves another core player at least Ibaka level.
My shot at it.
Wolves get Ibaka and Hayward and Dallas 1st, OKC 1st.
Jazz get Lamb and Jones and next OKC 1st available.
OKC gets Love and Budinger.

Would it really matter if it was the Celtics if the deal was right? I would think the problem would be more the prospect of rebuilding again after such a long playoff drought.

It would absolutely matter. Everyone felt that McHale gifted Garnett to the Celtics. That last thing the fans around here would tolerate is the exact same situation. It doesn't help that we ended up with virtually nothing in that deal, while Garnett wins his first championship the very year he gets traded. So, unless we are absolutely pillaging the Celtics future for the next decade, fans would absolutely abandon this franchise.
The goal would be the prospect of rebuilding, but 1. there is more to it for the fan base as mentioned before, and 2. We would get better packages than what the Celtics would be able offer anyway.

Last I checked, McHale isn't here anymore. Saunders has no ties to the Celtics, so he wouldn't be gifting a championship to his former team.

Hopefully you didn't need to actually check.
But you know what, we are still the Wolves and they are still the Celtics. We would hear from the media about how we traded another star power forward to the Celtics, and we would be getting compared to the Celtics development league team. It's not happening. It would be like the Cavs trading Kyrie to the Heat for spare pieces.
