Now that Rudy's contract has been broken down in to much more flexible parts there are a LOT more options for MU on the table. There are so many combinations of players that could be great packages for some teams. Any combination of Lowry, DD, Hansbro, Hayes, Patterson, Vasquez, Salmons, Amir would all be great pick ups for some team if the right assets come back for us.

I like the Granger contract + pick, Chicago has some assets, Charlotte with the Gordon contract and assets, Shumpert...

Will be interesting to see what MU does with all this. REally like the flexibility we just gained from this trade.

Salmons gets bought out so he doesn't have to play for this God-forsaken team. He only has 1 million guaranteed for next year anyway. Motiejunas is an ok prospect. Fredette can play backup and perhaps salvage his career, if not no problem, he's expiring. Asik can play centre with JV at power forward in the Raptors version of the "jumbo lineup". If JV and Asik both play 30 minutes a night, they would only need to be on the floor together 12 minutes. If it doesn't work, those 12 minutes could be key to ensuring more losses. It would work better than it did with Howard I'm guessing or he can just be moved on to another team.

The real mystery is whether the Kings will be willing to trade Salmons, Hayes, Fredette, and a little under 5 million in cap space for Gay and Gray. I say it's possible. Houston gives up cash to compensate for Asik's balloon payment in final year but it goes to Kings to compensate for Gay's contract.

Why would the Kings want Gay? Their in even worst shape than the Raptors and they don't play in the biggest joke of a division like the Atlantic.

Well, it appears they did. And they gave up more than what I suggested they might offer. Go figure.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I would really like to get a hold of that Ben Gordon contract and HOPEFULLY that Detroit pick.

I'd like to see Masai use a combination of the assets we have to pry that pick and contract away. That way, we have some money to play with in free agency this summer.

C.Boozer, N.Mirotic (rights), 2014 1st Pick (Worst Pick between Chicago & Charlotte)
For
K.Lowry, A.Johnson, 2014 2nd Rd Pick

Why Chicago: A.Johnson (7m Team Option for 2014) is a slight drop off from Boozer production but is better value, efficient, younger, & could platoon nicely with Gibson... Saves Approx. $5 million this year in Luxury Tax & saves $10 million next year in Salary Cap. This can which can easily help keep Deng (& potentially Lowry) in the fold next year without going into repeater tax... Still own the better of their Two 1st Rd picks this year & gain what is likely to be a high 2nd Rd pick so not losing much in the way of younger assets.

Why Toronto: As much as Toronto would hate to lose the heart & soul of the team in A.Johnson, the assets here are hard to ignore. Mirotic is a stretch 4 that has been lighting it up in Europe & would fit nicely along side JV... Comes over next year to rookie scale contract... Additional 1st Rd pick in place of a 2nd Rd pick in this years draft... Though Boozer is overpriced, Raps have no use for Cap Space next year to gain these type of assets & Boozer can help along with JV's development down low.

As of right now I think that the most likely scenario's are...

1. Amir to Houston in a 3 way where we recieve assets from the 3rd team and they get Asik.(I think Morley would love Amir next to Dwight)
2. Lowry to the bulls for some sort of filler and the cats pick.(rose injury but they still wanna compete)

Don't be suprized to see Masai keep guys like fields/Hayes and even aquire some other contracts that are on the books next season. Camby's 5 mill and salmons 1 mill come off too. Including the 2014 1st rounder we will have 40 mill in cap space in the 2015 offseason. I think that's masai's real play. Derozan,Val,Ross,2 lotto picks and 2 max free agents is a good plan IMO too

So who scores for the Bulls now? Or is Lowry supposed to post 20 ppg? I don't think they go for this.

I think this is absolutely the right idea. Taking back crappy contracts (like Boozer), and getting assets/picks. I'd prefer not to give up our second round pick, but I still think this would be worth doing.

Sir you are a wizard. Vasquez + Patterson are a much bigger prize than Fredette though.

I don't see why people want to trade DeRozan at $9.5m a year for a mid first rounder. Honestly, what are the chances of that pick becoming a top 15 scorer in the league or becoming the next Jpey Graham? Its 50-50.

If we move anyone it should be players that can help a team. Lowry + Hansbrough for example are two guys that could help a team win a playoff series.

What about something like

Kyle Lowry + Tyler Hansbrough + John Salmons for Carlos Boozer + Charlotte's 2014 1st

Remember, next year we might actually be done rebuilding through the draft. Having vets around isnt a bad thing.

Vasquez - Christon?
DeRozan - Ross
Wiggins - Fields
Amir Johnson - Boozer
JV - Paterson - Hayes

Hayes Boozer, and Fields would create $27m in expirings.... we could package them + 2015 or 2016 first for a star next year even.

Return to Toronto Raptors
