You're talking out of both side of your mouth now. You stated before that Larry's trade value is at it's lowest. Now you state it isn't. So what is his trade value now? Lutz

This year, probably not. The next two years that's a very movable contract though.

OJ still has a valuable NBA skill in being able to create his own shot, the problem is that he's severely overpaid for the role that he would play on a contending team if we traded him there. If he were paid say $5 million per instead of 8, he'd be an incredibly valuable asset to certain teams IMO.

As of now, he provides us with relatively consistent offense, all while not putting us in position to win many games. So I'm fine with him for the remainder of this year. Wait until next year or the year after when he'll be an expiring and have more value. It will also perfectly coincide with a 3-year rebuild window.

$8 Mil/year is not a bad value for Mayo. $5 Mil/year is more of a backup type contract like a Dunleavy Jr (yes he makes a little less than that because he took a discount to play with CHI)

Would love some of whatever you're smoking.

But I probably wouldn't accept it because it's illegal.

8 MIl/Year is unreasonable? Have you seen what NBA starters sign for that are FA's?

Larry's trade value is indeed low right now, but I'd bet anything you could get a much better haul by dealing him over Mayo. Guys with Larry's skill set are much harder to find and thus much more valuable.

It's unreasonable for a player as crappy as Mayo.

ersan, sanders, and mayo all have similar value in that you could get back vets with similar contracts. if you got back expirings without taking back any longterm money then you win the trade. if we took dead money back then maybe we get a young guy or 2.
bottom line is we put any one of those guys on the block and only a handful of teams in the league would even engage us..... and theyd all be based on fit.

based on their play up until this point, and their contracts..... nobody is going to mortgage their future on any of those 3.

So you would rather have Chase Buddinger? If you made a list of Top 100 Worst Contracts, Mayo's is not even on the list. He isn't a world beater but his contract is not some albatross either

In some ways, I do as well.

I think Mayo is fairly paid. The problem is that he's your typical non-superstar NBA shooting guard. i.e. those guys don't move the needle, but are really complimentary players. Whether we are talking Redd, Kevin Martin, or Mayo.

You only really need those guys and should be spending money on them if you've got your superstar in the fold. So, if we get a superstar, Mayo will be making all sorts of great shots and looking really good IMO. But right now he's irrelevant on this team.

Flame on. It's not a terrible contract and you know it.

Is rather have him at 3/18-21, but he's worth right around what we are giving him.
The Bulls are the absolute worst.

That is a really unfair comparison for Redd. He was light years ahead of a Mayo.

Mayo is terrible and anything over the MLE would have been a bad idea, but the Bucks gave him $8 million a year because they're the Bucks.

What do people think Mayo does well? I'm interested. His overall efficiency is right around league average or worse. His turnover rate is high and his defense is very poor. His on/off metrics show teams as being better with him off the floor every season of his career, similar to Gooden. Basically his entire value is tied to how well he's shooting the 3 ball. Why do you think his FA interest was minimal? Are all other GM's dumb?

Mayo is not terrible. Its just that if you rely on him to be your star you're in trouble. That to some degree is where we are at with him. Mayo is a middle of the road starting SG. Not great, not bad.

Mayo would be a very good 6th man type player. I think he'd excel in that role.

Is he overpaid? Yeah probably so. 5-6M is probably more like it, but that's not a big deal.

In a role where we asked of him zero defense and full chuckmeister mode every night, yes Redd in his prime was better than Mayo. And Redd was better at pulling of that role better than Mayo is capable of.

However, a winning team should never have Michael Redd playing that role. You can't have a no-passing, non-defense, chuckmeister, as your #1, #2 and #3 option. If we toned down Redd's role and asked more defense and passing out him, you probably end up with a role that Mayo can easily handle as well and maybe better.

Do you people that think Mayo is a fine deal also believe we've got one of the NBA's best values in Gary Neal? Because they're the same **** player, only we got Neal at $3.2 million instead of $8.

Redd could actually score at very good efficiency with high usage being the clear #1 offensive option. I doubt Mayo ever could.

Redd had 4 20+ ppg, .559+ TS seasons. Mayo has never scored over 18.5 ppg and has only been over .550 TS twice. Redd was over .570 twice.
