If you can get Rudy to play within the system his D is pretty decent right now and thats about it lol.. Hes not athletic.. maybe more than the average joe but nothing compared to what he was.. question is will he be happy playing within the system.. Dont know much about the guys we got but im just excited to have some cap space next year! I hope Rudy works out for you! If he came into camp as athletic as he was and shot a bit better, while getting our bigs going I feel like he could have taken us to another level as well! Ill be watching tonight! Goodluck boys!

love this quote from coach Malone, buy in or sit down.

As for the concerns about Gay dominating the ball?

“We don’t want it (the ball) to be just dribble, dribble, dribble, no ball movement, easy to guard and shoot,” Malone said. “Rudy’s going to buy in. He’s a high-character kid. We’re happy to have him and he’ll buy in.”

But to your other point, Memphis was better without Rudy. He hurt their system. The one year that the 8th ranked Grizzlies beat the 1st ranked Spurs in the playoffs Rudy was injured. I'm almost positive that the consensus among Grizzlies fans was that Gay was more detrimental to their club.

Memphis never had a hole in SF like the Kings are having right now. That Memphis team has more talent than Sacramento, so I could see why their team performed the way they did a couple of years ago.

Rudy Gay just increased the Kings' talent level by a good amount imo. To me, whenever you increase the overall talent level of a team, it is a good thing. Especially, if the alleged talent level increase is at a position of weakness (SF).

We increased the talent level of our team by acquiring Gay. We gave up Jose who was fighting for the PG spot w/ Lowry and Ed Davis who was a fan favourite but a career 7th-8th man. Didn't work out too well for us. And to mention your previous post, I agree Rudy would be better as a 2nd or 3rd option, but good luck convincing him to be that. He gets paid like a superstar and therefore thinks he is one. I wonder how long it takes for him to ban the stat sheets.

“He’s a beast,” Gay said of Cousins. “When you have somebody that plays like he does inside, I can do more of my job on the outside.”

I really hope he doesn't mean he's going to hang out on the perimeter and jack up 3 pointers all day. Looking forward seeing Lob City Norcal with our sudden infusion of athleticism.

Now with the Kings, dude will most likely play as a 2nd or 3rd option behind Cousins and or Isaiah

LOL you're in for a surprise if you think gay will play second fiddle to cousins or Thomas

I'm sure Malone will have no problem benching him then if he doesn't buy into the system. He has already benched Cousins and Thornton a few times.

I wonder how it feels as a fan when your star doesn't produce and the fans are super frustrated and the coach benches that player for not buying in...in Raptorland that is something we don't know. It's more like "hey Rudy stop taking long contested 2's! No? Ok..."

He was asked to be the superstar in Toronto and couldn't do it. He was asked to do things he was not capable of doing(point forward, Ist option). If he can draw fouls, shoot threes and pass to cousins when he draws guys out he should return to form. He won't be worth 19 mill but he may be worth 12-13.
Dick expectation level 0/5

Return to Sacramento Kings
