The Lakers are playing a lot better than anticipated (they have the same record as us, and play more WC teams) and that is all without Kobe. We'll see what Kobe does for that team, whether they play better or worse, but saying LA is in isn't quite accurate. 50% of the problem is gone the second Dwight Howard left. Melo probably doesn't care that Kobe is a team-killing chucker.

Let's keep in mind that Melo wanting out of Denver had nothing to do with a desire to win. It was made clear in no uncertain terms that he would be playing for the Knicks by the start of the following season. Perhaps he cares a little more about winning now, but NY will definitely still be in the mix.

Best move for the Knicks is probably to ride out this season with Melo. Try to make the playoffs (which is definitely possible with Chandler coming back soon), and then see what happens in the offseason. They just aren't going to get enough in a trade. If he walks, so be it. Denver has done just fine without Melo.
Humble yourself.

Oh lord, let's not restart the Melo to Charlotte rumor mill again. I'm still recovering from last time.

It's amazing how much that team looks like a tire fire mostly b/c Chandler went down. I like TC and all but he was like the glue holding up a house of cards.

Carmelo if not traded, will either sign with the Clippers, Lakers, or Nets if Kidd is fired of course.

Because of all the cap space they have?

LA actually has the cap space for him. They'd have to fill out the rest of the roster with guys on minimum contracts, but they did a good job of that this summer.

OK - just to put the various BenGo trade chatter to rest. Let's start a Ben Gordon challenge to try to find a plausible trade scenario. Picking's are SLIM from what I can see. Some have mentioned Perk and Lamb which is viable, but - god - would I hate to see Perk grimacing on the bench for two years - would rather see Gordon just leave or get waived. Maybe if we get 3 or 4 solid trade ideas, we can put it to a vote in a new thread.

In my estimation, the most likely candidates are teams that aren't tanking ("rebuilding") or want to move dead weight or both. Most of the playoff contenders don't seem to have much wiggle room. Wondering if there is a middling team that would move an ish contract for a future 1st? Like '16?

Trade checker here I come.

Ben Gordon would be a positive plus difference maker for any team that has a legitimate defense and need scoring, specifically 3-point shooting. If I was the Thunder, I would be all over him. Gordon could be to them what they want out of Derek Fisher, but to a far greater extent, where he'd be putting up 20-point games occasionally as defenses shift their attention to elite scorers, Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook. The issue with Oklahoma City being trade partners is that nobody truly knows how they feel about Jeremy Lamb's potential and/or how bad do they want to get out of Kendrick Perkins contract because of so many conflicting reports, but if there's anybody that might be able to get a favor for a favor out of Sam Presti, it would be his former protege, Rich Cho

That's 'i.e'. Presti & Cho are associates. Giving Charlotte a former 1st rounder only two years into his rookie contract for only a 2nd rounder is a prime example of the type of favors Cho could get out Presti

WT:

Could be bs, but three teams interested in Lowry? We need to put Sessions out there, he'd be a nice consolation for whoever doesn't get Lowry.

Apparently Felton may be Canada-bound, though a third team may be necessary as Toronto likely wants a pick and New York - of course - doesn't have one. I'd slide them the PDX pick for Hardaway.

NY out: Felton, Hardaway
NY in: Lowry

Tor out: Lowry
Tor in: Felton, PDX pick

Cha out: PDX pick
Cha in: Hardaway

I don't know...

The Knicks are offering Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace and a first round pick in 2018 to the Raptors for Kyle Lowry. WOW. (via Yahoo)

Can they even trade Metta?

Yeah I knew that, just forgot he signed as a FA and wasn't an amnesty claim.
