Jordan probably told him that it's OK to try to make shots now because we're not in super tank mode anymore.

He's been making a lot of his tough fade-aways as of late which surprises the hell out of the other team's announcers.

16.6ppg on .467 shooting from the field in the last seven games is pretty good.

He hasn't attacked the rim any more than at the start of the season though. Thus you would expect those numbers to come down.

lol, Hendo just throwing his gum away against the Dubs. I don't know how Tas keeps seeing these things, for those who watch TBJ/The Starters.

Bobcats guard Gerald Henderson could have a big night, based on last season versus the Magic

Henderson had some of his best games last season in the four-game series against the Magic. He averaged 22.8 points on 55 percent shooting from the field, 40 percent shooting from 3-point range and 89 percent shooting from the foul line. And he averaged over six free-throw attempts per game.

A big factor in that productivity: Arron Afflalo of the Magic seemed utterly incapable of guarding Henderson, particularly when the Bobcats posted up Henderson. Afflalo just couldn’t physically keep Henderson away from his preferred spots to catch the ball, and often ended up fouling to give Henderson 3-point play opportunities.

If this is the case, then Arron Afflalo's defense is overrated. I never paid much attention beyond the reputation that preceded him

Afflalo is literally looking like an All-Star this season. Averaging 22ppg on 60 TS%. Afflalo's D has always been a little overblown, but he's still a solid defender. I'd love him on this team- preferably next to Gerald.

We don't have to get rid of Hendo but it's time to find somebody that play a different brand of basketball with the potential to start. Over the last several years the Bobcats have been a poorest of poor 3-point shooting teams and there's been one common denominator, Hendo in the starting lineup. Hopefully CDR can be that guy. However I wouldn't bank on him being more than a great reserve but you never know. Some might say Taylor but he's becoming a carbon copy of Hendo. Other than that we need to seek a trade with our assets like Sessions, Gordon, and the POR pick ASAP. I would hate to wait until the draft to see how much of a difference 3-point shooting could be to the betterment of this team.

carrying over my hendo disgust from other threads...

as mentioned, henderson has had 5 years to develop a 3pt shot and he has failed miserably. he clearly has the form and skill level required to make them more often than he has shown.

i think his problems are clearly mental. he has the least on court awareness of the 3pt line of any player guard i've seen play in recent memory. he takes more long 2s than any players ive seen. he takes more 2s with his foot on the line than any player ive seen. he passes up 3s in order to take contested 2s. he makes 3s at a 30% level, which isnt good but also isnt god awful. there is absolutely no reason he shouldnt be shooting at least 3-4 a game.

he knew this was his weakness coming into the season. he knew we needed him to become a 3pt shooter to help space the floor. he acknowledged all this during the summer. yet here we are, 30 games into the season and he is attempting less 3pters than last season.

we gave him a big deal this summer with the hope that he would improve his weakness and he hasnt.

henderson has played 7000 minutes in his career and only made 66 threes, which is just astounding for a guard in this era.

here is a list of all the players in the past decade who have played 6500 minutes and made less than 100 threes.
http://bkref.com/tiny/oi2x6

only 4 players on that list have made less 3s than henderson
1. brevin knight
2. shaun livingston
3. trenton hassell
4. quinton ross

here's another query

players who have played 200+ games, averaged 25.0 minutes per game, and averaged less than 1 3PTA per game.

only 6 players and of the 6, hendo is dead last in total makes, 4 of the 6 are point guards who get to the rim, the other is defensive specialist and draft bust josh childress.
1. tony parker
2. josh childress
3. ramon sessions
4. andre miller
5. rajon rondo
6. gerald henderson

and another query
http://bkref.com/tiny/mez4z

players who have taken 2000+ 2pt shots, made less than 100 3pt, and taken less than 1000 fts.

basically players who dont get to the free throw line and dont make 3s, but take a ton of 2s.

only 6 players on this list
1. josh childress
2. carlos arroyo
3. marquis daniels
4. gerald henderson
5. shaun livingston
6. brevin knight

Telling that the Bobcats would have two players getting regular rotational minutes in the top 10 of that list (lack of perimeter shooting)

and 2 others that played here previously - knight and livingston. we have never valued 3pt shooting.

Where is the 3pt Line? LOL good one. Kemba's title should be "Where's the Shooters" or "Where's my Assists?".

Fair argument, no reason why Hendo shouldn't have improved his 3 point game by now. He said so himself that he would work on his weaknesses - 3 point shooting, he clearly has not. I am very disappointed he hasn't shown any improvement in his 3 point shooting or his awareness of it. Hendo probably doesn't realise how much better his game would be if he was a threat from 3. Settles for far too many long 2s when he should be attacking the basket. I'd rather him shoot 3s than pull up for those long 2s, or at least mix it up.

Henderson has worked on his three point shot extensively, but that doesn't mean he will ever be half decent from there. He just doesn't have the grace of shot.

Henderson has said that he's extensively working to improve his 3-point shot during each offseason of each year that I've followed the Bobcats, and I have still yet to see him even look like a average shooter from beyond the arc. For those still wishing on that star, it's time to give up on that hope

I think you're right by saying its clearly mental fats.

On rare occasions he has caught the ball while set and taken the 3 point shot which goes in.

If he did this more often, I'm sure his % would rise and we would all be talking about how his shooting has improved.
Instead he makes the game tougher by putting it on the floor.

I gave up a while ago. Hes still a nice solid player, but a three point shooter he will never be.

And that is tragic in all actuality. Give that man a decent three point shot and hes a potential multiple all star.

Geraldo is perfectly built to be the 6th man on a good team, he can do his isolation stuff and be the primary scorer which im sure he'll like, need to get a sniper SG in the draft or FA and start him and Hendo can replace Sess as 6th man

PG-Kemba
SG-Sharpshooter dude
SF-MKG
PF-Zeller
C-Al

6th man-Hendo

I think I'm going to start calling Gerald by his real name, Jerome. That's his problem, he want to be somebody that he's not (Kobe)
