I see a lot of people here in support of this trade, whether it's giving up Shump, potentially adding salary via Fields or even sending Toronto a lotto protected pick. Fellow Knicks fans, I don't mean to be rude but this mother#^@%ing team is 6-15!!
6-15!!!!!!!!!!
This is the same team that lost by 41 points to a KGless, Pierceless, Allenless, Rondoless Boston Celtics team. The same team that got blown out by the Cavs the next game. The same team that nearly blew a 25 point lead to a Roseless, Dengless, Butlerless, injured Noah Bulls team.
The underlying problem this team has is far greater than upgrading from an incompetent point guard, to a marginal starting NBA point guard. The constant isolation sets, the constant switching on defense, the laziness and complete disregard for boxing out and rebounding won't be solved by this swap, but it will continue to slowly kill whatever future flexibility this Knicks team has the next 3-4 years.
I would understand if this team was hovering around .500 without Chandler, beating the teams tanking this year, while putting up good effort games against playoff caliber teams. That hasn't been the case. This team has stunk for the most part. You just can't keep hemorrhaging picks and young assets to marginally improve your team, especially when your team sucks. The Knicks suck right now. It's something that needs to be improved internally first, then you can start looking at strategies to improve the personnel.
The pounding of the ball while waiting to set up an isolation play for Melo, Amare or JR with 10 seconds left on the shot clock won't stop. The switching won't stop, guys won't suddenly start boxing out and aggressively attacking the glass. Haven't you all had enough of the band aid type moves this organization has been addicted to making the last decade? I sure have.
