However I'll remind you guys that the Raptors gave up a mostly unprotected high pick to get him didn't they?

For a 2018 pick to be protected, owing to the five-year rule, it'd need to be an immediate downgrade to a 2018 2nd if it fell into the protected range, I believe. Doubt that the Raptors would be terribly interested in a pick that has the maximum upside of a playoff first, with a significant likelihood of being a 2nd.

Did you think any of that wasn't happening without the trade though?

How much has his D fallen off?

His last year in Houston, he was playing some of the best point D I've ever seen.

Best PG since Lin :)

I remember him having a bit of a nagging injuries habit throughout his career though. I could be wrong though :dontknow:

Hasn't played a full 82 game season since 2007/08.

We're really about to trade a goddamn draft pick for Kyle Lowry.

And not just any Kyle Lowry but an expiring contract Kyle Lowry.

God bless this franchise.

YES

then we can re-sign lowry + bargs when the contracts run out, watch melo leave, re-sign tyson/shump, trade for derozan, and we can be the next raptors! LETS DO THIS.

FOH with your "yes." that team isnt a contending team or a team that is a lock to make the second round. im done risking our future.

cool opinion

facts are Lowry is a million times better Felton who is a **** TURNSTYLE on defense and a buffoon on offense

in a way it's not even about felton. it's about how he's playing this year with the kind of injury that will nag him all year.

they would trade felton for felton if the 2nd felton was healthy.

4 straight years not making the playoffs. You act like it is easy what the pacers are doing. They drafted extremely well and were willing to develope players...lot easy to do that in indiana or san antonio. Still its not like this works for every team.....see the cavs..see the wizards....see the t wolves...eventually the young talent will leave if you dont win.

the pacers never had a really high draft pick. thats my point. all of their draft picks were 8(?) and lower...and look how they turned out. also, the knicks actually have done well when they had their own picks to draft. scouting is not a problem of this team. development is because we give up too easily, have **** coaches who cant develop, and we have a toxic environment (from every angle of this organization)

Enormous upgrade over point diabetes

:-o dude, aside from this first 20 games, the last time he averaged close to those numbers over a full season was in 2010-11 and guess what, that team wasn't in the playoffs...no he's not a huge upgrade

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/i ... kyle-lowry

you seem confused

hes averaged that for the past 4 years

I've resigned myself to this kind of move happening. But make no mistake it's a terrible trade and when Melo retires and we still can't rebuild and all we have to show for it is losing 4-2 in the 1st round instead of missing the playoffs, you will all realize that.
