Re: Bucks talking Asik
The Rockets didn't get the 5m cap figure this past offseason. It's always been 8.3 for them.

That would make sense. Baddy, you're the cat's pajamas.

I thought it was stellation but if it was baddy chuck then yeah, he gets major props...
We don't credit Australians on this board. We ridicule them.

I would do the original trade and give up Wolters if it meant we could get Terence Jones included.

It's f*cking terrible and if u don't see that you're pulling a momentary Hambone.
Nah, it really isn't. Asik is one of the best defensive centers in the league and those hold a good amount of value. Ersan has less value then Asik IMO, Udoh is seemingly worthless and though it would suck to give up Wolters, he hardly holds a ton of value right now.
It's an awful deal for us because getting Asik makes no sense at all for us, but the value really isn't that bad at all.
How do u justify including Wolters though?? We're dealing with Morway here, that isn't a huge gigantic red flag to u? If Wolters is removed from the trade I'm basically near your attitude about the trade. Sh*t offer to take back a different salary filler guy and then offer knight instead of Wolters if his wolf-in-sheeps-clothing a*s is claiming to need a point guard and if Morway says no way tell him to go eat fresh goat sh*t.

whatthe_buck!? wrote:Isn't that the cap hit in incoming salary for the recipient team? How can u be paying a guy 15 mil next season but have it only count 8 mil toward the salary cap? And If thats true and the the cap hit for Asik is 8 mil per as far as luxury tax instead of 15 then how did the Rockets get the 5 mil salary cap figure this offseason instead of the 8 mil one as far as freeing up cap to sign Dwight?
And if the 15 mil to be paid in slalary is isn't counting 15 mil towards the cap in the last season but instead only 8 how is it even considered a poisen pill contract? I thought the reason the bulls didnt match the offer was cuz they didnt want to have to deal with the luxury tax implications in the third and final deal, if that's now how it's works then wouldn't they have just matched the offer? This makes no sense to me whatsoever...
It's how restricted free agency contracts are handled in the CBA.
The Rockets didn't get the 5 million figure. They got the 8 million figure. It's 8/8/8 for them, but would've been 5/5/15 for New York.
It's the Arenas provision: http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q44

If we're truly discussing this then I think we'd have a deal involving Sanders lined up with a contender already.
Trading Ersan for Asik would just be squandering another asset. We don't need Asik, Ersan still has time to raise his value

I'd justify by saying that I think you can get a much better prospect(s) then Wolters out of an Asik trade then you could with Ersan. If giving up Wolters to Houston was the only way to get Asik to flip to OKC for say Jeremy Lamb I'd be all for it.

Agree on Asik being an excellent defensive center especially vs plodders, but Ersan is a quality stretch four which also hold a lot of value around the league. Last year we had the rumored deal with the Wiz for Ersan which sets the market value for him. I value Udoh's D a lot more than you, too. He's a solid back-up and probably won't cost much to keep but the FO loves to give away RFAs. Giving away Wolters mean we probably resign Ridnour which I imagine ends up just like the Delfino signing has so far.

It only counted as 15 in the final year for Chicago/NY for Asik/Lin respectively due to the Arenas provision. For those two teams, matching the deal at the time meant the cap hit would have matched the salary payment schedule. But now for Houston and subsequent trade partners, the cap hit is 25 mil spread out over 3 years .

If that kind of value is out there for Asik, Houston would just make that deal instead.
