well inform me?

Seeing as our last draft picks contained Shumpert & Hardaway, seeing as you need draft picks as assets , seeing as most of the trades we've done in the last 4-5 years contained draft picks I don't think you need to be informed at the proof in the pudding.

And they would laugh at us.

Felton, Shump, Hardaway, 2018 1st for Dragic. Would PHX do it?

Probably but why would we?

Come to think of it...it's mind boggling how Grunwald put no protection on the 2016 pick in the AB trade.

So how much will resigning Lowry at the end of this season when he becomes a FA going to cost and how much will that impact any chance of getting a REAL impact player in the summer of 2015 (cause, let's be honest here, Lowry isn't that type of player).

At least Felton's contract expires in 2 years and is small.

PS: As much as we may be down on Felton, statistically Lowry really isn't any better throughout their careers and both are well past the point of suddenly discovering stud hood.

IMO this is an immediate gratification trade that will ultimately not do enough to make it worth while in the big picture and may do more harm than good. Again, how much will Dolan shell out to Lowry at the end of this season when he can walk and they'll have next to nothing to get anyone else to replace him for next season? This would be fine if the plan is to tank but not so clear cut a yes IMO.

That exact "crying about picks" post has been made for every single terrible Knicks trade over the past 10 years. Feels like Groundhog Day every time a trade is made on this forum. It's like people suddenly get amnesia and forget that the "picks are overrated" mantra has failed for us badly.

Exactly, exactly.

I said the same thing when the Bargs trade was being finalized, and people were just like who cares it's Novak & Camby, just do the trade.

Damn fools will never understand.

Going to say if its the Knicks the deal will be Lowry for Felton/Metta/2018 Lottery Protected pick.
While I hate the thought of giving up another future pick -- it's the way this franchise does business.

Lowry will be a significant upgrade to Felton - primarily because he will stabalize our defense on the ball.
A Lowry / Shump backcourt is also a bit interesting.

That said I would expect (post Dec 15) the Knicks will attempt to move Shumpert and/or Hardaway &/or JR if at all possible. I have my eyes on Aaron Afflalo in Orlando.

Who cares about picks!

We drafted THJ and he's getting no playing time. Whoever we draft in 2018 isn't going to be getting any playing time neither. It's the KNICKS we are talking about.

Nope, that won't work. They changed the CBA to discourage sign-and-trade as a way for superstar players to have their cake and eat it too. Now superstars have to choose between getting more money by staying or leaving in a sign-and-trade and getting no extra money.

Melo can either re-sign with the Knicks and get the 7.5% bird right raises and extra contract year, or he can do a sign-and-trade where he only gets the regular 4.5% raises and no extra bird contract year (or just walk and get the exact same amount of money and years). So basically, there's no reason for him to do a sign-and-trade unless the team he wants to go to has no free cap space to sign him outright.

He does not get more money or extra years from a sign-and-trade than if he just walked and signed with another team outright.

It's not like the old CBA where he can get more money from a sign-and-trade. That's why Dwight Howard didn't even try to do a sign-and-trade to leave the Lakers for the Rockets. Sign-and-trades don't give you extra money anymore. Just walk and get the same amount of money. You only get extra money from bird rights if you stay with the team, not if you do a sign-and-trade.

If you slide him over to the right a couple of inches and remove the middle claw, he would actually look like the devil.
And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

PG market is weak we could get Lowry for 5-6M long term

Yea that trade works for both sides, I think it will happen, unless Ujiri bends you guys over and gets Hardaway too

Crap didn't even think about that. If we have to give up Hardaway then I wouldn't do the deal. Hardaway is looking like an all rookie first team player this year and if he can continue to develop he can be as good as a prime Jason Terry

We have a tendency to give up every legit rookie (even the undrafted ones!) we had... the past says all, lol.

What the hell are the Knicks doing!!

If they trade a 1st Round pick for Lowry there needs to be some sort of French Revolution storming of the Garden that ends with the beheading of Dolan & Mills
