Re: Trade Ideas - Part 2
I'm not saying the Rockets are an ideal trade partner because I don't know who you could or would be willing to trade to make a deal work, but I think Omer Asik would do wonders for your team after watching a handful of your games. And yes I'm aware of the corpse of Andrew Bynum coming back to life. One thing is they are different types of players and yes Bynum healthy is what you want because he is the better player so if he can keep it up offensively and return to form defensively, just disregard everything I'm about to say. Just having a legit center out there 2 of the last 3 games has resulted in wins.
Your team reminds me of the Rockets from last year. Forget about Harden, Asik was the anchor on that team that held everything together. When he was out of the game we were not very good. When he wasn't in the game, it was a layup line. The stats bear that out. Yeah he only averaged 10 points a game in 30 minutes, but he isn't a noticeable offensive liability when you have a roster full of guys that can score buckets. He plays defense, secures ALL the rebounds, and gets you out running. He also sets amazing screens/picks although actually giving it to him in the pick and roll nets inconsistent results lol. We were 1st or 2nd in the NBA in scoring most of the year with stone hands Asik in the middle. He does all the dirty work for you and doesn't demand touches that bog down your offensive flow. Like I said, I'm not proposing a trade, just saying that I really think he would help you win and solidify your starting unit.

no ****, at this point I don't want deals that aren't heavily favoring the Cavs. I like the young guys.jbk1234 wrote:BossHoggin wrote:now Green is someone I'd be okay with.jbk1234 wrote:What would you guys give up to get Jeff Green? Jack & Gee + Sac No. 1 (possibly Memphis No. 1)? I have no interest in a rental of Deng or Turner for what it would cost. I would rent Ariza depending upon the ask. Green is legit 2nd/3rd option on offense. He's on a reasonable contract. I just don't think we are going to be competitive in the playoffs with our current cast of small forwards.
I'd change the pick language to a swap or lowest non lottery pick, as with any of these SF trades, none of them are worth a potential high end lottery selection.
Example: Miami ends up 27, Memphis 22, Cavs 19 and Kings 13. Memphis keeps pick, Cavs keep 27 and 13 but 19 goes to Boston.
Wouldn't give up more.
Boss you are the homer's homer. I mean that in a good way. But we might have to give up more.

I would love it if we could find a way to get gallo. Assuming he comes back to his pre injury form, he is the perfect small forward for this team. He is a great shooter and can play both on/off ball.

Would you guys do Kyrie, TT and picks for Rubio and Love?

I thought he wanted to start. He doesn't start over Bynum.

Yeah like I said, if Bynum is healthy it really doesn't matter. Just an observation. You guys seem to play a lot better when you get a solid contribution from the center position. Even last year.

Yeah. I revisit the conversation if Bynum blows out a knee before the trade deadline. But, I think Asik may be gone by December 15th.

Sign me up to watch Love leave in two years

That assumes that Bynum, Love, Rubio, & Waiters do nothing in the playoffs. Love isn't insisting on rings. He just wants the Wolves to start competing in the playoffs. But even assuming that is the case, without such a move, the Cavs are going to be in a position where they need to sign Kyrie and TT to extensions this summer. What contract do you offer TT? And the year after that you face the same question with Waiters (who I really like). Do you let them test the market as restricted free agents? How close are these players to their ceiling? How close is this team to its ceiling?

Maybe. Depending on what "picks" means.

Re: Trade Ideas - Part 2
I imagine it would take something like Sac, Miami, Memphis and one from the Cavs (with protection). We are still going to be developing Zeller, Bennett and Karasev for at least two more years. I wasn't happy about having to trade the first pick in the second round this year. We are going to get stuck making more of those trades just due to roster constraints.

I seriously don't see this going down without a third team involved. If Asik is moaning about having to play behind Dwight, he's not going to like playing behind Bynum.
Find another team that wants Asik and is willing to send a legitimate starting calibur wing on a reasonable two year contract and I'm in.

Dwight: 34.7mpg
Bynum: 19.2mpg
I think everyone, including Bynum, is well aware that there are minutes available at the 5. Plus, this would free up time for Bennett at the 4, while being able to play him with a defensive center who should be able to cover up for him a bit when needed.
Bynum 25mpg, Asik 23mpg + additional minutes on nights when Bynum sits, Thompson 30mpg, Bennett 18mpg. To me, that would be ideal, with each player being able to carve out a specific role.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Asik will be awesome, I don't think Bynum will have a long career in Cleveland.
Bennett+Asik is a great fit, not so good with Thompson though.

All excellent points, and the part about Bennett actually sells me on it. I guess if he's happy with 25 minutes, but not starting then I'd welcome him aboard.

Plus, it would be a great insurance plan for Bynum. If he were to get hurt anytime in the next two seasons, we have a guy we can focus our attention on resigning. I love Varejao, buuuut this almost makes too much sense.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

anyone see this rumor on ESPN about Deng?
http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post ... -cleveland
Wonder if the Bulls Cavs trade would be something like:
Deng and Butler(or a pick) for AV and Waiters just to make the dollars work. Deng at least fills a need more at the three and his 14 mill ends this year.

Asik is depressed about his 18.some odd minutes a night in Houston. I don't think that 5 extra is really he role he envisioned.
I'm assuming he wants about 28+.
