Sholud we go after him?

I believe we should, provided we do not trade Horford.

What players could we offer, considering Asik is on his rookie contract?

Asik is most definitely not on his rookie deal.

Paul Millsap has been playing very well. I wouldn't be against trading him for Asik, it would give us a presence down low when it comes to rebounds and defense. It would also keep Horford happy.

Right, he is definitely not in his rookie contract. In addition, he has a strange one that pays him roughly 14 mill in his last year, in 2015-2016.
Anyway, I would trade for him as he would offer us the possibility of moving Horford to the 4 spot, get rid of some other players now that we have enough scorers in the perimeter and add a defensive force that do not care much about shots or touches, but it is a great rebounder, shot blocker, defender...

I would rather have Gortat than Asik but that shipped has sailed. Asik for Millsap but they need to sweeten the pot.

With Turner finally playing under a real coach with sound offensive principles, he putting up career Highs in scoring, FG% and PER.

is it possible we might have written off Evan Turner too soon?

His skillset is solid, and now his production is at an All Star rate.....

Turner is a below average shooter, below average athlete who is putting up career numbers on a bad team in a contract year. Yes I think he can be a glue guy or a solid rotation player on a good team but he's not going to be worth the money some team will probably throw at him next summer. If you are expecting him to be a stud wing to take the Hawks to the next level think again.. Would not give up a 2014 pick for him unless it was heavily protected.

Would you guys trade your pick / BKN pick together with Schroeder (+fillers for salary purpose) für Joakim Noah?

I hear what you're saying. 3 things, though:

1)The Spurs model we're attempting to copy doesn't look at how good a player someone is, but instead how their skillset fits into our system and team needs. Turner's ballhandling/playmaking would be a welcome addition to our team. Short and long term.

2)E Turner would be a drastic improvement over the SFs we've had on this team in the past 18 months.

3)ET's career progression & game remind me of Boris Diaw's a bit. He was not utilized and wasted away on Charlotte's bench. Now he's a key component for a contender. Because that coaching staff knows how to properly utilize his talents.

But I understand your disbelief. I suspect Turner's turnaround is as much about being in a disciplined offensive system this year as it is about producing in a contract year. He's a high-IQ guy who just needed a chance, and he's thriving this season. We don't need him to be a gamechanger.

I seriously doubt it. That BKN pick is currently top 6. In a very deep draft with a lot of talent at the top, that pick means gold.

Dennis also carries a ton of value to Atlanta.

While Noah would give us a true starting center, I just think that is way too much to give up for a player who isn't a very well-rounded player (lack of offense)

Milsap and a future lottery protected 1st not in this years draft for Noah is fair for both teams.

I do believe that bringing a true center would change the efficacy of the team.
We need to get Asik for Millsap or offer Houston any draft pick for him.
We are going to get a real center when Horford is already banged up, tired of playing C all his career and looking for a place to finish with ring possibilities.

LOL seriously? Millsap > Asik, and then you want us to throw in picks too?

After watching Millsap's last games I reconsidered my opinion. Paul is playing really well. He is obviously undersized for the PF position, but he has quality. Enormous amount of quality and determination.

I believe we should get a real center, but we should keep Millsap. Houston has a player that will get12-14 millions in 1year. So it is on their best interest to get rid of him, as he is just the back up center of DH.

Maybe we could offer draft picks, a couple of players and enough.

Why would we trade for Noah when we could potentially get Embid?

GSW fan here. Curious about what ATL fans think about this deal:

Lee/Barnes

for

Millsap/Carroll

Tell me where I've gone wrong.

I think the value is about fair and we'd need to consider it, but we would ultimately reject it. Millsap is not only better than Lee, but he is also far cheaper ($9M vs. $15M/year) and a couple of years younger (i.e. less likely to fall off a cliff). Barnes instead of Carroll is a major talent upgrade, but I don't know that it closes the value gap.

Now if you swapped out Barnes for Klay, I'd have to think long and hard about whether to do the trade. Adding a 1st would have the same effect.

Lee's contract length and amount are deal breakers. Surely if Ferry values either of Thompson or Barnes he'd play the waiting game and preserve cap in order to pursue either while GS thinks long and hard about their own cap situation thanks to Lee.

Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to gauge what a Lee/Barnes package can get in return other then the oft posted Greg Monroe deals on the trade board which I'm not a fan of at all as I don't feel GM fits on the W's roster with Bogut already there.

I'd almost rather just take Gortat and his expiring contract. Millsap has been a great addition, but it's clearly only a short term move.

Gortat, from what I've seen, could be a nice fit alongside Horford as well.
