Is Josh Harrellson (Jorts) our stretch four
He has range plays good defense can make jumpers at a passable rate good iq.
How viable is he at our 4 position moving forward? Does drummond and smith work well with him? What is his potential?
IF greg monore isnt resigned can we move along with him at 4 and use the cap space elsewhere?

Jorts is the new Darko. Only plays when the game is out of hand or injury. I see no value with him getting minutes.

That's not true. He's given us some very significant minutes the last couple weeks when the games were still in the balance, and was a big reason we won in Chicago.
His value is that he's a good defender at his position, understands team defense, and can shoot the 3. All things that we aren't getting from Monroe at that position, and all contributing to why we aren't winning more. Harrellson has been a positive impact player and deserves more minutes

I will say you are right when Monroe gets dealt. If Jorts was helping so much, he'd be getting significant minutes. Till Monroe is gone he won't. I'll say your right if Monroe gets dealt at the deadline. Book it!

I agree that Jorts is a positive impact player. He's not a starting caliber player, but I think he should be a regular rotation player. I can understand why he had a spot on the Knicks & the Heat the past two season...he's a really smart player.

I can't believe he is getting minutes, honestly. I thought he was signed to be the token "towel waver, hold back the bench with outstretched arms when something cool happens" guy. But we need to continue to have guys who can shoot it, so he will always have some value to the team, as constructed.

Re: Is Josh Harrellson (Jorts) our stretch four
When they signed JH I recalled seeing him playing for the Knicks and thought he might be a useful backup big. He isn't really great at anything, but is a classic overachiever. He works hard all the time and can do a little bit of everything. Good team player.

This is true. But people on this board are suggesting that he start over Monroe.

Monroe is 23 and everybody except you and 2 or 3 others think we should trade him so...

Most people on these boards realize that we have to trade either monroe or smith. His preference is to keep monroe and unload smith but theres like a 2% chance smith gets traded because the front office would be admitting the signing was a complete and utter failure by trading him less than a full season into his contract.
Regardless I'm open to paying moose (12-14million a year, basically smith $) and keeping smith at least until next season. Maybe we can have a pacers like growth from mediocrity to contending (doubtful). Its slightly plausible only because our D and not O has been the problem and our defensive potential has a pretty high ceiling.
