The point, he's hot tonight- ride the hot hand. Drummond is a lot less risky than Smith.

Smith isn't going to get fouled immediately because he's a competent free throw shooter, if not a great one. Just because Drummond hit a higher percentage than expected over 8 attempts tonight doesn't suggest that he's overcome an average that puts him at about 35% over two years. It's definitely the right move to keep him off the court when the game's that close until he can demonstrate that 6/8 on one random night isn't just a fluke.

:-?

He's shooting something like 20% better than Dre this season and teams aren't going to intentionally put him on the line. That's all I'm saying with "competent".

Well put sir.

I have to disagree however , smith at pf would be an upgrade over smith at sf. At sf he literally has a license to chuck up 3's where at the 4 he should take less bad shots.

The point about not re-signing moose is spot on. At this point id re-sign moose to the max (or close to it) and hope somebody takes smoove off our hands next year.

Problem I see is monroe isnt really consistent either on a game to game basis and between smith and moose, smith is the better player at pf.Dre is our c of the future and moose is going to command to much to come off the bench as a c.If we could get a sf of equal value that would balance our team out now and in the future I would take it.But the season is still young, who knows what could happen.

I have no problem with not having Dre in the game with less than the minute when we're trying to protect the ball. You want everybody on the floor to be able to dribble the ball if necessary. Drummond cannot. We didn't need offensive rebounds to score a quick basket and really a 3 was all that could have let them back in the game.

I'm not sold on greg Monroe being a power forward for us in the future. I like smith over over greg at the 4 and I think joe should deal him for Bradley beal. Just my personal opinion

I'm not sold on Josh Smith being a power forward for us in the future. I like Monroe over Smith at the 4 and i think joe should deal him for any decent perimeter player. Just my personal opinion.

I love seeing Monroe/Drummond play well together. Im confident that we'll win more games anytime Greg or Drummond have more FGA than Jennings/Smith. Tonight these two guys were just beasts. Lets hope they get the touches and keep it up

I kind of like what Singler has been doing the past few games. I mean, if the Pistons are going to explore which PF is a better fit with Dre in the future, Smith or Monroe, why not start Bucketman at SF and move Smith to the starting PF for a couple games to see if it can work out? Or vice versa, continue starting Moose at PF and have Smith be the first big to come off the bench.

Everyone's minutes can still be managed the same: Singler still at 20-25 mins, Moose and Smoove still at 30-35. Granted, this will be an ego bruise to move either one of them out of the starting rotation, but it's worked with Stuckey. Because honestly, I don't think there's any market for Smith right now and as much as I like Moose, I don't know if I'd give him the max contract yet to be out of position at PF.

(Oh and just to be clear, I'm not saying Kyle Singler is the SF of the future. But if there are no trades on the horizon, I want to see see how a BJ-KCP-Singler-Smith-Dre lineup looks, with Monroe and Stuckey getting big minutes off the bench.)

Detroit's P&R defense and dribble hand-off defense looked better this game. The bigs actually came out all the way to hedge, stopping penetration. However, this shouldn't always be the case. Jennings and other guards should be able to ice the pick and force Williams and whoever else away from the screen.

Because if Detroit continues with hard hedges, it sets up moves like D-Will's amazing spin to the hoop, freezing everyone. More so, great ball movement eventually finds the open shooter in those situations 10 times out of 10.

It's a process, but I'm glad there is emphasis being placed there.

Its not even debatable at this point, just a fact.

Im not sold on your eyesight

& good realistic idea on BB, im sure Wash is dying to trade him about as much as any GM would be dying to trade a skilled 22 yr old big like Monroe.

Look, I'll be the first to tell you that Moose needs to be more consistent. And he needs to start shooting (and improving) his mid range jumper.

But, I also recognize that a HUGE part of the reason his stats are down are due to Smith & Jennings. Moose is shooting above 50% on the season, and getting to the line. He needs more shots. Jennings is taking 15.6 FGA per game, most on the team. Smith is 2nd with 14 FGA. That HAS TO CHANGE. I'm ok with Jennings has been solid for the most part, but I'd rather see him taking closer to 11-12 shot attempts and get his assists up to >8. Smith is not a particularly great offensive player to begin with. At SF, he is a truly truly awful offensive player. As in, Rudy Gay awful. (look at the stats)

Fun fact: Andre Drummond averages more field goal attempts made than Smith (6 to 5.4) despite the fact that he averages 4.5 less ATTEMPTS. Drummond has shown very good progress early on. He's shown a very fundamental looking hook shot, improved his FT as the season has gone on, and his footwork is SO much better than last year. He's dunking more as well; he's had dunks this year that would've been soft layup attempts last year.

There is -no reason- Andre Drummond should be averaging single digit field goal attempts. We need less shots from Smith & Jennings, and more from Monroe/Drummond. Take 6-7 of the shot attempts from Jennings/Smith and give them to Dre/Monroe/Stuckey and we will be a much better team.
