so i guess they are still looking to trade shark, might still sign him long term though
what exactly is the reasoning for this? don't they want him back? i thought he would be a good guy to build a rotation around

I think they do want to build around him, but I think they realize that they're still a few years out and it comes down to what an extension would look like vs a possible return in trade that could line up closer to when they feel they'll be competitive and have that much more money free.
I think unless we get blown away it ain't happening. So in short, I don't think it's happening.
