**I'm basing my thoughts on a Asik Andy swap.

I really wanted Asik and he'd be good for the future if / when bynum doesn't work out. But he does want to be a starter and get big minutes.

Unlike andy who is suited to a backup role and more versatile he can't really play with bynum. Bynum and Asik are kind of two of the same so it basically means we'd have to split the minutes straight down the middle where with Andy he could play the 4 some times and what not.

Now on the bright side this does free up Bennett and we'd almost be forced to play him more minutes. Don't really know where i sit with this one, i am on the fence.

Wonder if the Bulls Cavs trade would be something like:

Deng and Butler(or a pick) for AV and Waiters just to make the dollars work. Deng at least fills a need more at the three and his 14 mill ends this year.
ESPN makes things up

Am I the only one who thinks it's interesting that every rumor involving us has us trading for a player in a position where we don't need them?

The biggest issue that the Cavs have as far as trades is concerned is that they don't have any bad contracts. People say that the Cavs lack talent, but IMO that's not true. It's just that all of our talent is on good contracts, so there is no way to make a trade without throwing in more talent than is necessary.

Clark & Gee represented $10 million worth of filler. Those are the type of neutral contracts that should be added.

Bennett+Asik is a great fit, not so good with Thompson though.

Asik is a great rebounder last season:

But with Howard came to Houston his stats declined:

Let's stop talking about Asik. That one's not happening.

Since ESPN broke it this morning, here is who I was talking about last night:

Cleveland is another team that has been frequently linked with Asik the past several days, but sources close to the situation maintain the Cavaliers like the fit of Anderson Varejao in their frontcourt rotation better than Asik and thus are more likely to participate in such a trade as a third-team facilitator rather than as the team that winds up with Asik.

One possible scenario that has emerged, sources say, is a three-way trade in which Boston lands Asik, Cleveland absorbs the contract of Celtics forward Jeff Green and Houston scores no fewer than one of the future first-round picks it covets for surrendering Asik. Other players would have to be involved in such a trade to make the salary-cap math work, but it's the sort of trade that would fall in line with Cleveland's well-known focus on upgrading its options at small forward.

The Cavaliers pursued Green in free agency two summers ago before Green re-signed with Boston and, as ESPN.com reported Sunday, have shown far more interest recently in finding a new small forward than going ahead with the rumored Varejao-for-Asik swap.

Wanted to add, I take it as a bad sign if ESPN has picked it up and is reporting it. Typically the Cavs work behind the scene.

Also, pretty sure it's not Varejao, Waiters, Thompson, or obviously Kyrie involved in the talks.

Yup. If the phrase "absorb the contract of..." is used, it's most likely something relating expirings or non-guaranteed, since the Cavs don't have cap space right now. I'd imagine an offer of Clark/Gee and some amalgamation of the Sacramento, Memphis, and/or Miami 1sts would be involved. Not much else.

I've always liked Green back to his days in OKC. if we acquire him, it takes us out of the running to sign a max contract in the summer correct? Also, I hope the Cavs explore a Gallenari trade, he is the perfect small forward for this team.
