Re: MVP discussion thread
Kd continues to keep the stellar play alive, he has a pretty good lead IMO on MVP race at the moment. These are the type of performances lebron was doing last year when he shore up the MVP.

Re: MVP discussion thread
Yeah, December has been pretty good to Durant as it is every year:
8 G, 29.5 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 4.6 APG, 1.7 BPG, 2.1 BPG, .550 FG%, .500 3P%, .889 FT%, 66% TS
So, essentially, 30-9-5-2-2 on 55/50/89 shooting and 66% TS. He hasn't played the 4th quarters of two games in that stretch or the scoring average would either comfortably round up to 30 or just flatout be over 30 points.

Probably his overall best line I've ever seen, through a good sample size of games.

KD was probably in this same position last season, before Miami and LeBron went on that 27 game winning streak.

Kevin Love: 42 points (8-9 on 3s), 14 rebounds vs San Antonio

Man, Love is playing quite well but Minnesota's record is abysmal. I understand it's not on him but he has to lead them to a playoff spot at least (not that he enters the MVP conversation as an 8th seed).

Re: MVP discussion thread
The truth about Love is that he's not a good defender. He's average mainly due to his great defensive rebounding but other than that he's nothing special on that end. And this is a BIG problem for you when you are a big man. To be succesful he needs good defenders around him, especially on center position. He's great offensively but he doesn't have to impact on that end that Paul/Lebron/Durant/Westbrook have.
So despite his awesome stats I don't think he will ever be in the MVp duscussion. His impact is just too small to be the MVP.

Yeah, no. Bron lead mediocre cavs teams to more wins. The Heat, even with a crippled Wade and a declining Bosh, is still better than anything he had before joining the Heat.

I completely understand anybody giving the best player in the world the MVP, but other than LeBron no one is in the conversation with Durant. He's eviscerating teams out there.
Anyone that has him lower than second is getting caught up in storylines *cough* Simmons *cough*

Re: MVP discussion thread
Right now
1. Durant
2. Lebron
3. Aldridge
4. George
Durant is definitely the front runner right now after this brilliant stretch

It's not just Simmons. Thursday night after the TNT games, one of the guys in the studio (think it was C-Webb or Kenny) said Paul George was the leading MVP candidate right now or would win it if LeBron doesn't...something along those lines. Anyway, everyone else said something like "yep" in agreement. It really does look like this could end up being a year where the most deserving non-LeBron player doesn't win MVP because the national media get caught up in another story and give it to someone else.

Simmons has had an agenda against the Thunder ever since they became the Thunder. It all stems from his hatred of Clay Bennett and taking basketball out of Seattle. From Zombie Sonics to Durant/Westbrook/Avon/Stringer to a "mom and pop" organization.

Lebron has to elevate his game a lot if he wants to catch Durante! He has to grabb more rebounds and stop to make all these stupid turnovers!

Right. Bizarrely, he's made his pre-draft preference for Durant over Oden a major part of his identity (bizarre because if you had told any of us ahead of time that Oden would have major injury issues before the draft, we'd have all sided with Durant, and his case for Durant over Oden wasn't based on expert medical knowledge). There's absolutely no way he has some kind of emotional bias to keep Durant from looking good, ever.
On the contrary, anointing Durant as the best player in the league will only make it that much easier for him to critique the ownership presuming they don't win the title.

Re: MVP discussion thread
Not much going on with the race right now.
KD
PG
LBJ
OKC playing very well right now and KD is their best player although I find Russ has contributed greatly to their success as well. He never seems to get his due.
