OT: Concerts at the Barclays Center

Post#1 » by truth18 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:19 pm

Hey guys!

I will be attending the Queens of the Stone Age concert with a friend from Connecticut tomorrow at 8pm. Neither of us live in NYC, but we know the city well and how to handle ourselves for the most part.

One thing neither of us know is whether you are allowed to bring a bag into the Barclays center (for concerts), and what the general atmosphere there is like.

Specifically, I will likely bring some greens of the leafy, intoxicating variety. Now, we will smoke before the show, I know smoking in the center would be a no-go, as most NYC concerts ive been to don't allow smoking at all and will enforce that policy greatly.

So basically, I want to know if I can bring any into the stadium at all, not to smoke but just to have on me for after the show, as well as any rules of aspects of Barclays I should be aware of. I have a portable vape that fits in my pocket, would that be a better call? Also, if anyone knows if I can have a laptop bag (and whether it will be searched), I would appreciate it. Oh and is beer hyper expensive?

Thanks a lot fellas, and nice win the other night.

I'm going to the concert tomorrow night too. I'm a huge nets fan and my first time going to the Barclays will be for a concert lol. I'm not sure about their bag policy. I think my friends and I will be going into the city early (from CT) to avoid any snow and hit up some bars. Enjoy the show!

I've been to one concert at the Barclays center, which was Jay-Z. I'd honestly just recommend an edible. First off, your'e going to have to go through metal detectors, so just keep that in mind if you had something on you. Also, there were cops everywhere for that concert, and whenever they smelt smoke, they would put flashlights on the crowd looking for people. It was kinda ridiculous, because it's kind of accepted at concerts. It can also depend where you're sitting as well. Security might be a bit different for a Jay-Z concert compared to Queen though.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the smoking during the concert security really doesn't give a sh** just make sure to hide it good and if you have a vape then thats even better. As for bags You can probably check on the Barclays center website.

Thanks SO much guys. Looks like ill be able to bring a laptop bag so that's quelled a lot of my anxieties.

All of your advice and information has been extremely helpful, think ill prob burn one before the show and keep it on the dl there just in case something stupid happens.

And Mccguver! If you wanna grab a beer or say whatup at the show shoot me a pm. All good either way.

Thanks again! Can't wait for this show tonight

Got into the city an hour ago, waiting for my friend to get in right now and then we're gonna head to brooklyn. No idea what barks is but maybe we'll roll through. Ill be wearing a smashing pumpkins shirt and a big jacket, I'm a tall black dude with a big fro so I stand out. Ill look for you at the show/barks if we make it there.

Otherwise, same to you man, enjoy the show, this is my second QOTSA concert and the first was incredible. Very excited

So I went to take a piss before they played Go with the Flow (I think, was pretty gone all night haha) and right before I run back, I see this guy my friend said looked like Reggie Watts, I stop and walk out with him and ask if a lot of people tell him that he does, because they do it to me (I dont look much like him, just a big fro and beard too).

He laughs and tells me he is Reggie Watts and introduces me to the fine girl he's with. Later, my friend and I partied a bit with him. Too tired to tell the whole story, ill edit this tomorrow/today.

Awesome night overall, great show, hope your's was as well

hah what a great time that must've been! We had seats but were able to sneak onto the floor. It was a blast, first time I saw them live and they did not disappoint. Honestly though I was getting a little stuffy on the floor and then all the weed smoke was just so overpowering, lol. That was my only complaint. Other than that the band was great and the Barclays was beautiful. Even when we walked in to get our tickets at 4:00 the place smelled amazing. That practice court they have too is awesome... that would be so fun to get a coffee at the starbucks and watch a Nets practice there. Nice surrounding area too.... easy to walk around and a lot of nice bars it seemed. That place High Dive was great and the beer wasn't that expensive.

All in all great first experience going to the Barclays even though it wasn't for a Nets game.... who would've thought. Glad you had a good time too!
