Bass and a pick plus filler is ok, but not Green. We will have no one to score.

Re: Asik to Bos talk
Daryl Morey floats outrageous rumors...
Like Millsap, Anderson, 2 picks and right to swap from Charlotte etc. So someone would be dumb enough to think that they are getting a deal by landing Asik for one first round pick. The reality is no competent GM would even consider giving a first round pick or a quality young player for Asik.
1. Asik is owed 20M dollars total this year and next. (His cap hit is 8.375M for both years.)
2. Asik has no range outside of dunking the ball. He has a FT% of 60%.
3. Asik is 27.5 years old. When his current contract ends, he will be a 29 year old looking for the biggest paycheck of his career.
4. Asik when demoted to the bench, pouted, asked for a trade, and was actively hurting his own team which was trying to contend. He will do the same thing no matter where he goes unless he starts and plays big minutes.
5. Asik is not very versatile. He cannot cover power forwards in the perimeter or switch with other players which makes it more difficult to play him for extended minutes.
6. He is currently having his worst season yet, averaging career lows in FG%, Assist%, Steal%, Block%, eFG%, PER, and WS/48.
These are the facts. No one is actively trying to acquire him. You can bet almost all the rumors you hear are the desperate attempts of a GM trying to unload a terrible situation on some other sucker.

Re: Asik to Bos talk
Asik's value is at an alltime low, They've basically shopped him for every useful starting PF in the league.
But if he could be had by just giving up Bass, with no picks then yes. But Asik should not be worth a first rounder, NO WAY.
By giving up Bass, this frees minutes for Olynyk and Sullinger at the same position, and gives less minutes to Faverani at C, two positives.

Re: Asik to Bos talk
I really hate how someone can come up with some random thought, and all of a sudden it takes off like there is actually something to it. This is some guy just speculating that the Celtics have players that might interest Houston, not that there is any interest by either team on pulling a deal.

Re: Omer Asik Trade
I'm probably a bit higher on any Asik (bass and goodies or green/contracts) for two main reasons:
1) Sully and, to a somewhat lesser extent, KO. Both would look so much better with Asik covering the 5 spot for them. Despite his height, I'll continue to believe that KO's future in this league will primarily be as a 4 who plays some minutes at the 5.
2) As was alluded to earlier, Rondo feasts when he has a big whom he can feed.
Losing green would be tough, though I think the perceived value of many 3's in the league is artificially impacted more so than most other positions relative to the 3's role on the team. With the exception of those who are proven go-to scorers, the difference between many of them is more negligible than I think many might recognize. Heck, I think one of morey's tenants when 1st building assets was this very believe (i.e., the 3's in the 15-45 range of the draft, along with undersized 4's, tend to be the unvalued prospects). Say we subbed Green for Asik and came away with a Chase Buddinger type of 3 - how much would we be missing uncle jeff?
Caveat for when nothing happens, I'm still a Jeff Green fan... I just prefer Asik to him. All the better, though, if we can swing this for Bass/Lee/Pick...

I wouldnt do Green. Bass + filler (brooks/bogans/even faverani and/or a pick) for Asik sounds about right.

I wouldn't give up on Green, rather see him stay....If they can make it happen without Green, then I'd say go for it. The defense we lack, will greatly improve!

Bass, Brooks, LAC 2015 first(top 20 protected)
This is fair offer.
BTW....would be good to move this thread to Omer Asik Trade thread!

3-way with a Philly piece going to Houston, Salary/expirings + and pick or 2 to Philly, Asik to Boston.
Doubt Green would be involved

Jeff Green is so much better than Asik, this would be awful! Danny won't get raped like that.

I'd do that trade. The fact is that LAC pick is gonna be early-mid 20's so it's not such a big deal, imo. I'd rather not give any pick at all, but if Danny really wants Asik and the Rockets don't wanna trade him without pick, I guess he should go for it. NO WAY IN HELL you trade Green for a guy who's already requested a trade and will be traded, the Rockets don't have the leverage in this 1.
Good assessment:

Zero reasons to give up Green for Asik. Bass+Fillers should do it. Someone needs to call HOU's bluff on this. Asik has greatly diminished his trade value on his own.

Not really excited to give up Bass for Asik. I think Bass should basically be the Celtic version of Udonis Haslem. He's just such a useful guy and his physical talent is just off the charts.
I'd be looking at Wallace/Protected 1st or Bogans/Lee/Faverani/Protected First or even Hump and a protected first.

Re: Asik to Bos talk
This is gaining steam, they were talking about the Celtics as a destination on NBA Satellite radio this AM. Nothing new to add, but I wonder, if we did get him, could we get Granger for the mid level in the off season if he's healthy? Then we're looking pretty damn formidable (if he's healthy).

Not sure if thats considered 'gaining steam' or just regurgitating earlier reports.
Granger is a better player than people give him credit for, and is at a very low buying price right now. I would go after him for a small package of Lee and Brooks and Bogans. Something like that.

Granger for the MLE? No thanks. If we're in the market for a backup SF at MLE money, I'd rather we go after that guy in Brooklyn who'll also be a FA this summer.

Re: Asik to Bos talk
They have to sign Stevenson in the off season, so they would probably be most interested in taking as little long term salary as possible. I could see a Humphries, Crawford, pick (highly protected) offer as being enough, but would we want to risk that with DG expiring and coming off major injury For the Pacers, they get two helpful expirings, and an asset. They also keep the Heat from Crawford, a team that has been rumored to have interest in him.
