Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
isnt sarver one of the stingiest owners
i think they signed that bonus clause like "yeah right kid, ofcourse we will give you extra mill per year if you can make it the AS game"

Sarver is not stingy at all. I'm not sure where you got that narrative.

Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
It's irrelevant, as Dragic won't make the All-Star team. He won't get voted in by the public, because they will vote for players by popularity (even when they don't deserve to get in), and he won't get picked as a reserve because the Suns are constantly being disrespected. If anything, Bledsoe would get picked over Dragic for the hype Bledsoe has, regardless of whether he deserved it more than Dragic.
And $1M isn't much to give up for the publicity having a player in the All-Star game gives a team.

ive read a couple of articles in the past how sarvers stinginess hurt the suns. and if memory serves me right there was a lot of posters here complaining about that.
but if that is not the case, my bad.

i feel the same way. if anyone, bledsoe would be in the AS game, but it was just a hypothetical question thats been brewing in my mind for the last couple of days.
one more thing. i know he(dragic) wont go there, but does three point contest or skill challenge count as the all star appearance

Yep, way too stingy to pay Beasley $9mil to f*ck off.

Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
A poster on another forums has phrased it well. Sarver in the past has been Penny-wise and Pound-foolish. Sarver is not a cheapskate by any means. Yes, the Suns have sold draft picks but the money from the sale typically went straight into a contract for a vet. Like when the Suns (stupidly) sold Rondo, they went and (stupidly) used that money to give Marcus Banks a horrible contract. Or when they (stupidly) sold Lou Deng, they went and (stupidly) used that money to give Q-Rich a horrible contract. Even after they (stupidly) dumped Kurt Thomas and picks to save money they went and (stupidly) traded for Shaq and his 20 mil a year deal.
The Suns might not be the highest spending team in the league but they certainly are not among the cheapest. They've just made some glaring mistakes on where they've chosen to spend it.
But I dont think they will need to sweat it anyway. With Paul, Harden, Parker, Lillard, Westbrook, Curry and Kobe (who will probably get voted in by the fans), the odds of Dragic making the all-star team are slim to none.

I think having an All-Star on the team may very well add more revenue to the team from more tickets sales and merchandising.

Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
All-stars are like magnets. They attract other all-stars.
All-stars make good trade assets.
Of course Sarver and FO want Dragic to be an all-star. I want Bledsoe to be an all-star too.
Only one way we get either of them to the game. The Suns make a huge run before February and are either the 1st or 2nd seed in the west. Tough to do with OKC and the Spurs in front of you. Otherwise you're looking at
Kobe/CP3 (fans choice)
Lillard/Parker/Westbrook (coaches choice)

Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
Don't forget Harden and Curry. It will be very difficult for a Suns guard to make it as an all-star this year. All but Lilliard and Curry have been multiple time all-stars and Curry was the anointed one during last year's playoffs. I think there will be 6 guards on the WC team. Kobe and Paul chosen by the fans. Harden, Parker and Westbrook by the coaches. That leaves Curry, Lillard, Dragic, Bledsoe, Lawson, Ellis and maybe Thompson or Martin (long shots if they want a more classic #2 guard) vying for the last position with the likely edge to Curry.
Kobe could do the class thing and step aside after being elected and ask for an injury waiver, thereby opening up a position for one of the others, but it is very unlikely he will ask for it.
The bottom line is the guard position in the WC is stacked and Dragic, Bledsoe, Lawson and Lilliard will likely be viewed as not having a large enough body of work and having all-star opportunities down the road.

No way Kobe is going to sit out. If anything, he'll do what he did that year he had that broken finger and play like 2 minutes. I think Lilliard would get the nod over Dragic and Bledsoe, he's hit game winners and on one of the best teams in the tough West.

Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
I think you're right about Kobe and that's what I said in a more round-about manner. His ego will not let him sit out an all-star game. As for Lilliard getting the nod over the Suns guards - maybe, but I do not think any of them make it. I think Curry gets the nod over all of them.

Re: FO and dragic as an all-star
Our backcourt has been impressive, but considering how loaded the west is, I think if we can settle with just one allstar, but even that will be hard to achieve. Paul, Westbrook and Parker have to make it no matter what, but you also can say that record wise, so far Lillard should be in as the wild card. If the Warriors don't go up in the standings, Curry could watch from home again, and I am afraid that the Suns will get caught in the numbers game too. They are the biggest surprise, but their two best players have the bad luck of being guards in the west, so...
One more thing: if forced to choose between Goran of Bledsoe, I think considering all factors (particularly the team performance with one of them out) you need to go with Dragic, at least so far. In my opinion, of course.

Yep, way too stingy to pay Beasley $9mil to f*ck off.$21 mil a year earlier to do the same with Childress, along with buying out BMiller, Carter, Pietrus, BWallace, and so on and so on.
Yeah, Sarver is paying over $26M to Beasley, Childress and Okafor(?) to NOT play for the Suns this season. $26M!!!

Not to mention countless assets to run out of town the likes of Brian Grant, Jahidi White, etc.
