what to do with Chris Kaman?

Post#1 » by Lost Angel » Tue Dec 17, 2013 12:15 am

I still think he could help us. Don't know why D'Antoni won't play him.

but, seeing that he's out of the rotation, do we use him as a trade chip? or do we keep him in case of injury to Gasol/Hill? Seems like Sacre would get the minutes if either of those two go down.

so, why do you think he isnt playing, and what do you think we should do? are there any cheap PG's to be had?

The question should be...... What to do with Dantoni?

No question right now I would play Kaman over Pau but D'antoni isn't going to do that, he's going to keep Pau in there and keep letting him shoot those mid range jumpers that make us all cringe so badly.

Blazers fan, I come in peace.

Would the Lakers trade him to the Blazers for Joel Freeland? Freeland is still a bit of an unproven commodity, but he's young and he can run the floor.

That's how I see it too... I hope the coaching staff and FO see it that way too...
Kaman would be an excellent Backup on any team for that price... Trade Pau first.

No chance. Kaman would get moved for point guard help. If we needed center help, we would just play Kaman. In terms of trading Kaman for another center.

I'm furious at this coach & this system. He can actually ball & his in the doghouse at a tome when we desperately need interior scoring, Pau is playing like a player on his last legs & from what I've seen of Chris I've been impressed. I'd like to see him play along side Rob as his been pretty solid this season. Gotta love DT!

Not sure what Dantoni's deal is. He tried doing the same thing with Jordan Hill. There was a point were you could tell that he really didn't want to play Jordan. Fortunately for us Jordan was playing way too well to be ignored.

Kaman can contribute. He just needs some minutes.

Pau is just...

Kaman definitely needs some playing time. Feel bad as he took a discount to play for us. Those are the types of guys I want on my team, yet we're not giving him a shot on the court. Lame.

I'd deal him for assets. He's not gonna be here next year anyway and there are teams out there that could use a veteran rotational big. Sacre has been a pleasant surprise and I think he has the tools to be a solid backup C for us.

Lakers are most likely sitting on Chris Kaman to showcase and trade Pau.

Pau's not going to get a talented center in return - not happening. Expiring contracts, maybe a pick or two, maybe cheap young talent or two, yes.

But not a talented center, which is why the Lakers got Kaman in the first place. The Lakers have been trying to move Pau for two years now, and Kaman is the likely replacement.

Kaman is a good offensive player, and Pau is relatively unselfish, so if those players are both on the court, who's going to look better? Kaman will put up numbers, and Pau won't.

That's the thing, pairing WIlliams and Sacre with Pau is almost forcing Pau to be productive.

A frontcourt of Kaman + Pau makes no sense at all, even for Jim Buss, so you gotta think Kaman is his replacement - always was.

Yet the trade deadline will pass and Pau will still be on our team. Then we will lose two bigs in free agency. At some point we have to start looking at our coach. I almost wonder if Dantoni is Jim Buss's b**ch. Maybe this is why Jim really wanted Dantoni. He can control him and make him do whatever he wants unlike Phil.
