The Lebron streak
I didnt know in what section to post so feel free to lock. so here it is...
Some info first...
LeBron played in 788 regular-season games in his NBA career, and he failed to score at least 10 points in only eight of them. He has scored in double digits in 98.96 percent of his games.
Of the eight regular-season games in which he failed to score at least 10 points, seven of them happened when he was a teenager. The soon-to-be-29-year-old LeBron has scored fewer than 10 points only once in his 20s.
His career low was 4 points on December 3, 2003 against the Los Angeles Clippers. It happened in his rookie season.
The last game in which LeBron scored fewer than 10 points in the regular season came on Jan. 5, 2007 in Milwaukee.
He has never scored fewer than 10 points in a regular-season game for the Miami Heat. He did score less than 10 points in Game 4 of the 2011 NBA Finals.
He still has a long way to go to catch Michael Jordan's 866-game streak. If LeBron played (and scored 10-plus points) in every game, he would break Jordan's record midway through the 2017-18 season i think by my calculation.
Nobody is really talking about it but how impresive is this by Lebron a guy who never look for individual stats but was playing for the benefit of his team ? Does it add to his legacy ? Can he stay healthy enough to break it ? i am just looking for some opinion. thx anyway.

Talking of streaks, he's had 6 straight games of 2 steals or more.

Hmm...
Didn't know about this streak.

Eric Reed keeps track of this streak in every game, if you watch Heat games you know about it for a long while now. It's all about health looking forward.

Re: The Lebron streak
No one is talking about it?
Like the others have said, it's mention every Heat broadcast
Even when LeBron has below 10 points and we're going into the 3rd or 4th, Eric will say the streak is in jeopardy.
Fans may not talk about it, but anyone who watches the Heat broadcast is VERY well aware of it. Fans don't mention it because he's a LONG way, you might as well say he has to do this and that to pass Jordan in all time points.

It's kind of a flukey streak anyways. All it will take is for him to have some kind of injury early into a game that keeps him from returning for the rest of the game. So if he say took an elbow to the face 2 minutes into a game--that would break the streak.
So maybe it's best not to call attention to it, and jinx him.

Err... It is actually the opposite of "flukey". Flukey by definition something that is largely determined by rare chance, an outlier. A streak that is 500+ games (or 866 in MJ's case) long is as un-flukey as it gets in the game of basketball. The longer a streak is, the less likely that it is an outlier. You also mention that an early injury would be all it would take to end the streak (which is obviously correct) but LeBron's history has shown that this is much less likely than him scoring 10 points. Even for the average NBA player it is less likely. So it is incorrect to call it a "fluke" that such an event has not occurred.
For LeBron, to score 10 points is not a fluke at all. The length of the streak is a testament to this.

I think his point was that the streak could end at any moment due to random chance--i.e. a stray elbow to the face. It's not that he hasn't shown remarkable consistency, but that even the most consistent can and typically will at some point succumb to the kinds of fluky injuries that can end a streak like this.

Re: The Lebron streak
how about a guy who misses a hundred times a triple double by one rebound or one assist or both. he has 30 triple doubles in his carrer, lets say he made 80 percent of them thats a 100 easy wich would be 4th all time behind kidd, magic and O. crazy as hell

He had time to get them both yesterday, but game was a blowout so he went out. Such a stat padder.
But I won't lie, I hate seeing this happen as a fan lol.

Re: The Lebron streak
to be honest I couldn't care less about this streak. don't know why, just don't.
and yeah although triple-double sounds cool and even looks cool in the boxscore it's pretty silly. a 15/10/10 game is for some reason in much higher company than a 15/10/9 game?
part of the reason I don't like when people keep track of arbitrary cutoffs.
and I'm not gonna lie I find it a little annoying how eric reid continues to call out the streak every game when LeBron is still so far away from breaking the record lol.

I find it annoying too but so is kaboom in my opinion on every three. but ultimatively him and tony are in the top of nba commentators.

oh no question, I've watched a lot more streams this year than in the past so I get to hear a lot of the local commentators and they really are one of the best tandems in the league. I also like the pistons' commentators. both of them bring insight, personality and most important some objectivity to the game. some commentating teams are just plain awful to listen to.
but yeah the kaboom thing might be a little overdone too. I don't if he says it after they hit a three but when he refers to it as a 'kaboom' on a regular basis it sounds kind of silly.

yeah and they are objective. i meen you have many other quotes... from downtown, from threee, behind the arc and knocks it again, from the land of milk and honey etc etc its a little bit annoying for the ear every time kaboom especially this team who can make score them in bunches.

Re: The Lebron streak
They will stop talking about it for awhile until LeBron passes Karl Malone it seems at 575
He's at 519, and can pass Moses Malone at 526
I guess this is why they keep talking about it. LBJ has a chance to be 3rd all time to score in double digits for the most consecutive games. I doubt he will pass MJ though... MJ's is basically is 88% of his career.
I honestly don't care. It's one of those arbitrary stats...

You are probably right about eric and tony talking about it, i think he can do it and man would be nice to put a facepalm even more closer to a hater face.

Objectivity is a BIG reason why I LOVE them.
They have no problem saying when the refs made a mistake in the Heat's favor, they don't lose their **** when a call goes against the Heat, and they have no problem admitting when they made a mistake. They keep their own egos in check - which seems to be prevalent in the organization, from players to coaches to commentators.
I can't stand homer commentators - I would hit Heinsohn with a pan each time he opened his stupid mouth to complain about some obviously good call, and then hit him again when the replay shows he was wrong and he just mumbles something about the refs being bad instead of manning up and admitting he was wrong. And if you want to talk forced catch-phrases, you have to bring Stacey King into the discussion. And then immediately hit him in the mouth so he STFU, because otherwise he'd keep running his mouth forever, and I can't stand the sound of his voice.
