Man Strength wrote:Cha in - j. green, dragic, bogans, Pho future 2nd rd pick
Cha out- gordon, mkg, sessions, adrien, taylor, port 1st rd pick
get more shooting in green, more passing for backcourt in dragic. he can play alongside walker, and potentially start over walker next year. gordon, sessions and adrien are expiringa and could easily walk, so future assets given up are really mkg, taylor and port pick.
Hou in - gordon, adrien, port 1st rd pick, future bk pick
Hou out - asik, brewer
huge expiring to help sign FA in offseason, backup center in adrien (his advanced stats are unbelievable this year) and 1st rd pick
Bos in - asik, taylor, brewer
Bos out - green, bogans, future bk pick
taylor is downgrade from green, but not MASSIVE and his salary is under $1 next year. so value for money there. then they are basically giving up one of their many bk picks for asik. they have so many it should be fine
Pho in - mkg, sessions
Pho out - dragic, future 2nd rd pick
(can substitute Utah and Haywood for Pho and Dragic)
sell high on dragic, and get a little worse right now for the longterm. mkg +sessions is great value for dragic, and sessions can likley be moved again before the deadline for something useful. 2nd rd pick is a non-story for them with all the picks they already have.
*could easily change Phoenix to Utah in this deal and trade Harward for MKG instead (no sessions or pick)

Now that MCW is down, you see how teams have smothered Turner and his numbers have gone down. Put him on a team with options like Big Al and Kemba and things would open up more for him. He's a borderline all-star with MCW in that lineup.

Yes? No?
I'd consider it if the pick wasn't top 5 protected and if half of the East wouldn't be higher in the lottery than Nawlins.

No. Really don't feel like paying Turner large amounts of money in the off season after one good season.

Pelicans pick is 13th right now. It won't move much further than that considering the stanking in the East and the stacking in the West.

If by borderline All-star you mean in the same way Kemba is a borderline All-star this season then I concur. I'm not saying Turner will never piece it together, but this franchise has no business making that gamble.

Maybe I did say some nonsense like that, I can't recall, but Turner is a RFA while MKG still has a few years on his rookie contract. It's a risk towards any team acquiring Turner at this point because he could demand or command a offer that the team restricting his rights isn't willing to offer, resulting in him possibly walking for nothing during the offseason
I like Turner, and I think he would be a nice fit next to Kemba, but Charlotte would still need a consistent perimeter shooter in light or shadows of losing MKG who had potential to be an elite defender, something you need to beat the LeBron's & Durant's of the NBA

I understand. The flipside is this. It's a gamble holding MKG too long to like Derrick Williams. His stock is not rising at all and you can wait for it to rise but you may be waiting forever. MKG's stock has fallen drastically since June 28, 2012. So keeping a player incurs some risk. If you can get a borderline all-star player now comparable to Kemba then that might be the best you can do. Buying has risks. Selling has risks. Holding has risks. The fact MKG will be on the block (according to Ford's sources) means the FO has calculated some risk in holding MKG. I'm glad they have because the gamble on a top 3 defense, last place offense is not working out. You need more offense and you can afford to sacrifice defense to restore some balance.

Yes and simply reason I say yes is because our coach. If we feel like he is going to be our coach for a while it's best to trade the two young assets on this team he doesn't have "a thrill up his leg" for.
Next season I plant seeds around the league I will match every offer Evan Turner receives to hope for a sign and trade and at worst a trade exception, and let him walk getting the most I can for him, or nobody bites and he is forced to sign a contract below his value.
Realistically, the organization needs to have a sit down and all get on the same page because they aren't even close right now. I've said this before, but there seems to be no method to their madness and hasn't been for years.

Stopped reading when you said borderline All-star again... He's really not even close.
I'm with countryboi on this one. I'll go one step further MKG doesn't need to go anywhere unless we're getting a lottery pick or an all-star. I know trading him straight up with not get the job done, but that's the only way he would be leaving if I were in charge.
It would be interesting to see how many teams trade away STARTING players on the second year of their rookie contracts and see what type of value they get back. Before anybody says he wouldn't be starting on other teams, that isn't an issue because this is our team and he's obviously good enough to start so until we have something better waiting in the wings it's a non-starter as far as discussions go.

No. At best the Pelicans pick will just barely be top ten, more likely it's late lottery or possibly even 15+.
No player in that range will be a comparable prospect to MKG, and I would rather have the upside of Biz to Turner (plus having to pay Turner). Or look at it this way: Biz for a late lotto is about fair value (ok, that may be a bit homerific), but MKG for Turner isn't as close IMO.
Maybe I'm being an insufferable homer but these are my two favorite players

x1000
If you package MKG + DET + POR you're probably not getting a player back much better than Evan Turner. If I'm mistaken, then who? Name that player.

Remember when a lot of people were hyped about OJ Mayo because he played so well for the first third or so of last season? This is basically the same, except Turner is still riding the wave from his first several games mixed in with a few more good ones.
Humble yourself.

List of the only SF who score more PPG than Evan Turner:
Kevin Durant
Carmelo Anthony
Lebron James
Paul George
Rudy Gay
Notable SF who score less than Evan Turner but hold more value:
Parsons
Hayward
I think you can rule out the top 5 above and you're down to Evan Turner, Hayward and Parsons. You're not getting an all-star for an MKG package.

And so the target list of SF is:
Evan Turner
Chandler Parsons
Gordon Hayward
So where is MKG a best fit? I'd say Philly, then Houston, then Utah in that order.

Re: Fake Trade Thread III
Why is PPG the sole basis of grading players? Everyone who is down on MKG cites his lack of scoring, but the kid influences the game in so many other ways. His rebounding and defense are among the best in the game for SFs AND HE'S 20!!!
I'm not saying we won't trade him for the right price, but the idea we'd even consider moving him for Gay, Turner, or Hayward seems asinine to me.
