what does that accomplish? Unless you have a follow up deal to clear Bargnani and Chandler.

It accomplishes getting rid of a waste that occupies a roster spot. Actually, I'd try to send Humphries for Zach Randolph since Memphis is trying to unload him.

My brother mentioned something to me, he was half kidding of course, but if we were to trade Melo to some team, we should try to get Denver to send us a second rounder for like nothing before the trade goes through. It'd be a payment for us effectively giving them an early lotto pick.

"Knicks discuss Asik

The Knicks made a foray into the Omer Asik sweepstakes and had discussions with the Rockets and a third team about a three-way swap, an NBA source told The Post. But the source said the Knicks are likely to fall short of obtaining the Houston 7-footer who has asked to be traded...

Yahoo! Sports has reported Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston and Cleveland are frontrunners for Asik."

With the emergence of Terrence Jones as the starting power forward, Morey is not determined to find a starter at the position. He hopes to come away with either a strong defensive wing who can catch-and-shoot, a power forward who can fill in as a backup center, or expiring contracts that come with first-round picks - or some combination of those assets.

Jake Pavorsky

There is finally some concrete movement on the Sixers trade front. News regarding a possible Omer Asik trade has been in the news for the past week, but rumors of an acquisition of shooting guard Dion Waiters from the Cleveland Cavaliers surfaced today.

A source has provided Liberty Ballers with an update on both trade fronts:

•There is a “zero percent” chance the Sixers will acquire Waiters. The 22 year-old Philadelphia native is averaging 14.4 a game for the Cavaliers, but does not and has never looked likely.

The Omer Asik situation has been described as “fluid”, but a resolution seems near. Currently, Houston has “5-6” offers on the table for the Turkish big man. Houston has been seeking out a first round pick as part of any deal for Asik.

•The Sixers has been involved in one possible scenario, a deal which would involve Houston, Philadelphia, and a third team. Within that possible three team trade there are three scenarios, one in which the Sixers do end up with Asik.

•Within that three team trade being discussed, Boston is not currently involved.

Currently, the deal at the forefront of the Asik negotiations is a two team deal not involving Philadelphia, and sources have indicated he is likely to end up somewhere other than the Sixers.

My personal take: There are an insane amount of moving parts here, and Houston is going to continue to work the phones until the last possible moment here. Do I think Omer Asik will end up in Philadelphia? At the moment, no. Do I think the Sixers will be involved in the deal in some capacity? Absolutely.

MWP or Shump for Asik but not both......

You should just do Amare for Asik. It's not a talent thing. It's a role to be filled and knees to be used.

You must be on something good if you think Morey is gonna trade two bonafide rotation players who can start for those two....

Just NY'S 1st round pick.

Asik is leaving anyway. MWP helps Dwight. Amare helps Dwight. As starters, or bench. Lin is just one of maybe a handful of pgs that would be an upgrade for NY.

We're talking 2 solid players that don't work for New York for a journeyman center and an in process pg with something to prove.

LOL..man asik and Lin would actually help NYK win more games....dunno why you would want that if you are a Denver fan.
You saw what Linsanity did in NYK...

And asik can actually play big minutes, unlike amare. STAT will always for the rest of his career be on a minutes restriction. He is going to play 30 minutes max on a goo day. Plus, his salary makes him almost untradeable AND he is a constant risk to being out for the season or significant amount of games...

Dunno where you got journeyman center from..Asik started his career as a bull, then signed a nice contract with HOU because bulls could not afford to match. He started on a playoff team last season and averaged a double double in 30 minutes a night. If being on two teams is considered a journeyman, then damn near every player in the NBA is one.

MWP does nothing to help an nba team at this stage of his career. His shooting and overall offense is horrific. Defensively, he has absolutely zero speed and athleticism, and must rely on strength now. Unfortunately, there are quite a few athletic, fast, AND strong forwards out there that MWP just cant guard anymore.
MWP is clearly the worst player in this trade, don't you agree?

Plus $$ wise, both Lin and Asik combined will make less than amare this and next season....
I know you may be looking up their salaries. Two words: Poison Pill.
