RFA's can only agree to 4 year offer-sheets.

Even from us?

Why would we offer him the 5 year max, when we could just match someone else's 4 year offer sheet.....

Because he can opt out in his 4th year for a matched contract. Meaning we might only have him for 3 years. A five year max contract offered by the Suns keeps him for 4 years.

Goodbye any other marquee free agents. From my understanding, that takes away the notion of adding another max free agent

Depends on the timing. We could sign another max free agent BEFORE matching Bledsoe and still wiggle it in under the cap, then exceed the cap when we sign Bledsoe, which we would be allowed to do because we have his Bird Rights. Bledsoe will only count as a 3.7 mil cap hold (his qualifying offer) up until we match.

So, basically if we want to land a max FA we'd have to be quick about it. I think, and from the statements our front office is leaning this way, that its much more likely we make a trade for our next max level guy, rather than sign them.

So we're in the clear then right? No one can offer him 5 years except for us which means we match any 4 year deal, leaving us open to signing a FA.

I'm not saying I would but perhaps McDonough wants to keep him longer and doesn't think any other FA out there that could be a possibility for us will be worthy of the 5 year deal.

For this 5 game winning streak:

Bledsoe: 21.2pts 4.2reb 7.8asst 2.2stl 0.8blk 2x 3s (on 48%) per game. 37min 49/76 shooting splits...and 3.6 TOs

Dragic: 22.8pts 2.8reb 3asst 2.2stl 0.2blk 2.6x 3s (on 54%!) per game. 37min 54/81 shooting splits...and 2.6 TOs

That production is unfrigginbelievable.

Dragic is looking like prime Manu out there - others have said it - he's just such a smart player who knows how to be effective, even when he's not handling the ball.

Bledsoe is a complete tank, the way he isos his man then just blows right passed him into the paint, exploding up and drawing contact...amazing.

Love that we have these two to build around and teams KNOW they're not getting a win vs the Suns unless they bring their A game.

I want this deal!

That's a tough deal. The Suns basically give up both the Morri even though only one goes to Minny. Kief would be behind Love, too small for the C spot, and in doldrums because Marcus was gone. Our interior defense drops off significantly without Plumdog. Sending Plumlee to Minny doesn't make sense because they already have Pekovic. I would swap Kief for Plumlee and then do that trade. Goodwin would get more time because Green would be the backup SF. Our bench would not be as good either.

Totally agree. Plumlee would bring nice D alongside Love...Kieff is behind Frye now anyway though, and he can play C as well.

If my some miracle Love was a possibility, the most I'd offer is: The Morrii, Len, Archie, our 2014 and 2015 draft (while keeping the worst of those picks, probably Indiana's), plus Okafor's contract. Maybe we'd be allowed to keep Frye and Green.

If you are acquiring a superstar, you also want to have the right role players left or flexibility to get them, but in our case I believe we have that part covered with PJ, Frye, Green and Miles.

Still, with the exception of Archie and Len if healthy, we are offering quantity, but probably less perceived quality that teams with a high pick in 2014 or a stablished star(-ish) player that can help the Wolves try to win after the move.

Problem is Minny did this to Love and he wasn't happy about it. They gave the 5-year contract to Rubio. Just saying.

Why not Frye instead of Marcus? And no Plumlee...maybe the 5th overall pick of the draft Alex Len instead.

Len might turn into a star eventually he's an unknown now but for a guy like Love you gotta take that chance.

Maybe add another pick from us as well.

Didn't someone on this thread or the FA thread say that we are passed the point where we could offer EB a 5 year deal? I thought the 5 yr deals came and went with the extension talk or could we still offer him a 5yr deal?

This is nuts - essentially 6 first round draft choices for Kevin Love. Have you lost your mind? I like Kevin Love. He is a very good player, what you're proposing is that we basically gut our team if its young players and means to add to the team for one "superstar" who has been unable to get his team into the playoffs in 5 years and has played a complete season only once in 5 years. This is a 2K14 fanboy trade at its worst.

No, we should not offer him the five year max. We need to let the market determine his salary. If he gets a 4 year max with an opt out, so be it.

He's not worth the five year max.

We can offer him a 5-year contract for less than max.

Not sure why he'd take it though. Say we offer 5/60 (12m a year) with a player option. He could instead get that total 60M over four years or opt-out after three and hit FA again at 27 years old.

I'm not saying we couldn't extend him again in let's say 2 years but I think we'll match another team's offer-sheet for max or near it. So for sure we'd have our backcourt for only 1.5 more years. Maybe that's why McD could rush the process...

Yup.

Suns Plan On Matching Any Offer To Eric Bledsoe In Restricted Free Agency

Eric Bledsoe emerged as a star this season with the Phoenix Suns until his knee surgery in January. Bledsoe averaged 18.0 points, 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Bledsoe will be a restricted free agent and Lon Babby plans to match any potential offer in the open market.

"I think our answer to that is yes, that we know enough about Eric as a player," Babby said. "Even more importantly, we've lived with him now for almost a year as a person. We like everything about him. Like him as a teammate, like him as a representative of our franchise and everything that he stands for.

"He's got a tremendous future."

Babby hopes the Suns can sign Bledsoe outright instead of going through the process of matching.

"If you ask me today, I would say absolutely we are going to match any offer, but I hope it doesn't come to that. I hope Eric has developed enough of a feeling, and my instincts are that he likes it here."

I looked up but couldn't see any good Bledsoe thread except some complaining threads

Bledsoe had a Q&A on Twitter and I'm putting some of his answers that includes his individual and team goals.

I like Bledsoe, but these are not substantive questions or answers.
