It's not necessarily like Waiters has much of a choice in the matter because he doesn't have a no-trade clause, but I don't really want a to get a player who is going to be disgruntled because he'll be battling for minutes at the 2-guard spot.
Well Waiters would be the 6th man here just like he is in Cleveland. But I highly, highly doubt Ainge could pull off Green for Asik & Waiters anyway.
Well I think one of the main reasons Waiters wants out of Cleveland is BECAUSE he's the sixth man.

Green + 1st rounder = bad
Green only = OK
Bass + 1st rounder = OK
Hump + 1st rounder = OK
Anyone in a different boat? There's obviously little non-entities like Marshon Brooks that could be included that don't swing my pendulum either way.

But his numbers are significantly better as a 6th man as opposed to him starting, and he was a 6th man in college. I thought he wanted out of Cleveland because he hated Kyrie, and he & Mike Brown didn't get along?
Admittedly I don't know much about Waiters locker room situation.

[Sad trombone]
Meh, I'm not sad, as this likely entails that Houston is still asking for too much.
You're probably right, but from my POV Ainge is dealing from a position of strength and thus won't be giving in to HOU's demands no matter what. The sad trombone comes out because it appears we weren't able to get Asik for little more than a late 1st rounder.

Don't you think he's worth more than just a late first rounder ? Not many Center's out there right now to be had and his position is one that is a tough get in the NBA these days. The value would appear to be worth far more than a late 1st.

You have to take into consideration his situation in Houston. Yes, he may be worth a bit more than that, but he wants out. The Rockets have no leverage here whatsoever.

To me, this has been a clinic on media spin by the Rockets. I can't remember a team in less of a power position than Houston right now (player that wants out, big contract, self-imposed deadline), yet still has managed to publicly boost that player's value in the eyes of the media. Classic case of playing the media like a fiddle IMO.
