Re: Omer Asik Trade
Lee's played well but once those shots stop falling most Celtics fan's will go back to hating him. Gonna miss Bass if he goes, he's a solid role player. This trade free's up more playing time for Sully and Olynyk while we get a legit starting center who's a great defensive player and awesome rebounder. Between Sully and Asik we could have one of the best if not the best rebounding duo in the NBA.

30 minute starter = 10 ppg 12 rpg with only 2 tpg and 2.7 fpg.
Last time Celtics had a legit 10 rpg player? Anyone? Antoine Walker circa 98??
Does not matter when Cs had 10rpg player. What matters is the real worth of 10rpg player worth. I am fine with Bass and Pick only.

I think they will play. Until the deal is pretty much done I don't see the celtics telling those two to stay home.

That's what I'm saying.
Lock up Ainge for life if he gets away with that steal.

Anyone in a different boat? There's obviously little non-entities like Marshon Brooks that could be included that don't swing my pendulum either way.
I might be willing to throw Faverani in the package with Humphries and a 1st rounder. Like him, but with Asik, Sullinger, Bass, and Olynyk all on the roster, he would be expendable.
Probably more remote, but could see Bradley (+ cap filler) being offered up in trade talks for Asik. We've been hearing talk recently about Bradley's potential asking price next summer being pretty high, and maybe Ainge feels Jordan Crawford can be had for more of a bargain next summer. Once Rondo returns, a three guard rotation of Rondo/Lee/Crawford would still be pretty potent, and we'd have seriously upgraded the frontcourt for the next few years.
The second Houston asks for Bradley in exchange for Asik is the second Ainge hangs up the phone. I'd hope that to be the case, anyway.

It matters when rebounding/size is your single greatest weakness.

Houston wants a pick, and got 2 rotation players. Celts? They have duplication, so are dealing from depth. That's a great trade IMO for both teams.
Houston started out asking for two first-round picks for Asik. You're right. They have so much "leverage."

Bass is definitely a "wish him well except when he plays against us" kind of guy. But trading him for a rim protector would be a regrettably sound basketball move.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

This might be an offer the C's put on the table a while ago and they *are* doing nothing right now while the Rockets' shop around and consider. The Rockets may be coming to the conclusion that Bass, Lee, pick is the best offer they're going to get so it is now gaining traction. See, both Bulpitt and Woz could be reporting truth, just from different angles.

Maybe Portland could come up with something that tops that, but I doubt it.

I am fine with Bass and Lee both going. A 3 guard rotation of Rondo/Avery/Crawford is plenty.

Re: Omer Asik Trade
That seems like a fair. I'm going to miss Lee and BB though if they go. But it would be a great basketball trade for us. Our bench would be god awful until Rondo came back and sent Crawford back there. Hopefully Brooks can step up and give us what Lee had been giving.

Re: Omer Asik Trade
Funny how before the season people wanted to trade Bass and Lee for a 2nd round pick. Now they are too much to give up for a starting Center (the hardest position to find).
Bass/Lee and a PROTECTED pick is a GREAT move for us. Clears up a bunch of cap space over the next few years and we get Asik! Also greatly balances the roster this year.
Rondo/Craw
AB/(Craw)/Brooks
Green/Wallace
Sully/KO/Hump
Asik/(Sully)/Fav

I don't see Bass, Lee and a pick as being a heist. I think, if anything, the C's are slightly overpaying.

Yes, he might be a headache for Houston at the moment, but no general manager in the hunt for Asik really thinks that he will continue to be one once he is on their team. Again, I think the marketplace will wind up driving his trade value up to where it should be. Maybe the initial offers from the interested teams were for 40 cents on the dollar, but somebody is going to eventually offer 50 cents on the dollar, followed by somebody offering 60 cents on the dollar, and so forth. It might not get completely to a dollar on the dollar level, but it probably won't be THAT far off with this many suitors. It might just take longer than usual to get there.

Bass is playing well but that doesn't mean he has good value. Almost all GMs out there probably don't see Bass the same way Celtics fans do.
