For what it's worth:

There's a guy over on the clutchcity forum who's been claiming inside info from the Houston organization.

He's been saying for 3 days that the Celtics and Rockets have had a deal in place that was based around Bass and a pick for Asik. Supposedly, the Rockets have had that in their back pocket while seeking better alternatives.

It's been unclear what other players, if any, would be involved, but one name that had been mentioned as possibly being included was Faverani. However, it was unknown whether Morey preferred Faverani or the pick.

Many folks over at clutchcity were not taking this guy seriously. They are now.

Please don't tell me that the concensus is that asik is gonna cost us a first round pick just to unload him next year? Could he possibly bring back more than bass, lee and a 1st?

I don't think giving a first round pick just unload lees last year is worth the time unless he's supposed to be a center on a championship team or can atleast bring back another 1st.

A few games ago, I kinda got the sense that we were showcasing Crawford & Fav. I am buying this.

Allen got 9m$ for 3 years in Memphis.
Nobody will offer Bradley more than 6m$, if you give him 7-8m$ you are doomed, the future of the team is done.
You need a star to win, with Rondo-Bradley-Green-Sullinger-Asik you are a serious PO team but not even a pretender.

For that you need to remain calm with the money and target the difference makers, like Love in 2015, like Durant in 2016, Sullinger or Green, depends on who fits better or play better are the guys that in the near future you need to replace to play for a championship.

It is just that simple, and you can't do that if you pay Bradley 8m$, Asik if you re-sign him 10-12m$, Rondo 12-14m$ etc...

what do you expect? it's the truth Bass and Lee contracts under the new CBA are matadors for the team that get them, and none of them makes the difference for any team.
It's what it is.

I wish we were caughing up that Nets/Hawks pick...or even our own pick next year rather than the Clipper one.

Isn't that a little backwards? Considering Houston apparently wants them? If they wanted them just to flip the that's dumb. Asik should be their chip to get what they want, not their chip to get chips.

Bass/Lee would add solid depth for the Rockets, they get the first round pick they wanted so it at least feels like a win..

Meanwhile, with Rondo back and Asik in the fold.. do we become a top 4 seed in the East, still with something like 8 first round picks in the next 4 years AND Humps expiring deal still there as an option

Easily a top 5 seed in the East and battling for first in the Atlantic all throughout the year. We're a far better team with Asik on board....& of course Rondo coming back helps and then some. Plus you keep Jeff Green.

& like you said, you still have 8 first round pick in the next 5 years or so...hahahaha

Setup perfectly by you're genius GM, btw

Not sure about what seed exactly, but if this goes down, there's no way Brooklyn can catch our record (IMO). With that assumed, who would have thought that after that heist, we would also end up with a better record? Insane!

Wait, what? The Clipper pick is clearly the least valuable.

Why would no1 want them. They are both having career years, this makes no sense, Berger is pulling stuff out of his ass...
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Faverani is the perfect kind of cheap, solid back up center. We need to keep him. Bass, Lee and a pick is golden. Get it done and move it along.

30 minute starter = 10 ppg 12 rpg with only 2 tpg and 2.7 fpg.

Last time Celtics had a legit 10 rpg player? Anyone? Antoine Walker circa 98??

His free-throw % is going up, small sample though, but something I guess/hope =]

Agreed. Lee i can understand because his contract doesnt fit his production. but Bass has been consistent and bar-none awesome for this team. I think GM's that actually pay attention will see that.

Courtney Lee? Really? He wasn't going to get much time when Rondo came back anyhow. Losing Bass hurts, as I don't think Sully will be able to guard quick stretch 4s. Thankfully, Wallace can fill that role.

Yeah. This.

Lee has been playing well, but with Rondo on the mend, there is going to be a glut at the guard spots, anyway. I'll take a frontcourt of Asik and Sullinger over an extra guard off the bench any day.

Bass will definitely be missed, though. Celtics fans have been underrating him for three years now.

Well Bass is a given to be missed. He has been this teams most important player arguably alongside Sully and Bradley. But Bass for Asik is a good trade and was talked about from the get go.

Throwing in Courtney lee as well seems like too much. Id rather give up Humphries + Lee and a first if thats what we are talking here. But Humphries is probably viewed as the bigger assett due to his expiring contract.

Lee is gonna make way too much money for the minutes he's gonna give us.

Dunno why Bass would have no trade value. He's been as good as ever. He's done well guarding Melo and LeBron on stretches. Easy enough to fit on most teams(not contract wise).
