Re: Around The NBA 3.0
So I just went and checked out the Raps game thread for tonight's game. I think I'm being accurate when I say 80% of that board just wants the team to lose out. That's just disappointing to see even in another fan base, let alone your own. What I'm saying is, thank you guys for being true fans and letting go of that tanking business once the season started. I'm pretty sure all of us genuinely want to win every game we play
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

I was prepared to watch us lose every game from 2011-14 once the Wallace trade happened, but I can never bring myself to root for my team to lose. At least in 2011-12, every loss was one step closer to Anthony Davis or MKG or somebody. Last year was just brutal because there was nobody worth tanking for.

Re: Around The NBA 3.0
Damian Lillard had another big scoring night tonight in a losing effort to Minnesota. Lillard had 36 points on 13 of 24 shooting (7 of 14 on 3-pointers)
...but the more I look at it, I don't think Portland is a serious contender. They are 7-5 against teams over .500 & 15-0 against teams that are under .500. That's good, but I have my suspicions that they'll falter a bit into the middle of the Western Conference standings after their hot start similar to how Memphis & New York did last season

Amazing how the only difference between this year's team and last year's team is DJ Augustin vs. Nate Robinson.
On the flip side, DJA nearly has a double double after three quarters.

I watch a lot of Bulls games, and they rode their winning momentum & chemistry pre-Rose injury. Not only are they lacking Nate Robinson's scoring punch, but they're also missing Marco Belinelli as a perimeter shooter that also had the ability to put the ball on the floor unlike Mike Dunleavy Jr.

They still have a winning record against teams over .500. Any team that starts as hot as they have in the Western Conference is legit in my book. Besides, when is it a bad thing to be 15-0 against the teams you SHOULD beat?

I never said that it was a bad thing. My statement was to point out that they've had a relatively easy schedule, and I expect for them to fall back down to Earth once their backcourt stop shooting above 50% from beyond the arc

Granted they wont shoot 50% from three point land all season, that would be ludicrous. But when I watch them, there's not a thing that they dont do well. The only big glaring flaw in that team is Lopez. He's as slow as molasses and if he gets matched up against a Dwight Howard, he's gonna get trashed

Re: Around The NBA 3.0
these next few games are gonna tell us how good the Blazers really are
vs New Orleans (should win but wont be easy with Davis back)
vs Clippers (deep and has best PG in NBA)
vs MIami (2 time defending champs)
@ New Orleans
@ Thunder (2 top 8 players)
we play em Jan. 2nd should be a good game (@ Portland)

We really need Portland to go on a losing streak. That pick they owe us is worthless right now.

I would have to disagree with this part. I actually think the acquisition of Robin Lopez is the biggest difference in them being on the outside of the playoff picture looking in last season, to being a top seed in the Western Conference this year. Lopez' grit & grind was exactly what that team was missing, since LaMarcus Aldridge wasn't physical enough to make them imposing on a night-to-night basis

Dwight Howard's statline against Robin Lopez on 12.12.13
32 Pts, 17 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 Stl, 3 Blk

Dj was lucky to fall into this situation.
Getting axed by one team but somehow becoming the started of another.
He has to know that he has to take advantage of this luck or he might gone from the league.

Those are playoff minutes. I think Portland is a really good team, I just think Lopez is their one weak link
