I like Asik as a player, but I'm disappointed if he's actually causing problems. It's alright to be upset, but he needs to understand that its a business. He's still getting paid.

woj benefits from portraying Asik as a cause of disturbance. He is a good kid, don't worry, it will be fine come playoff time if he is not traded this season.

It is incredibly difficult for me to believe that Omer and/or his agent are stupid enough to go the route of pouting and being a problem. He isn't trying to get more money and the Rockets don't "need" to trade him for now. Its obvious that Morey is going to wait for a good deal for the rockets. If Asik wants out then Asik needs to play hard and earn a favorable trade package for the Rockets. If he sulks and pouts then send his ass to RGV. I want Omer from last season, not this "briused thigh" (or whatever) little girl we've seen this year.

Let's get real talk, the only reason why Asik trade talk is hot is because his pay next year is 15 million and Rockets don't want to pay that. Not only Rockets don't want to pay his 15 millions, the organization is asking the world in return to take over Asik's 15 million payment. While Asik is good, but I don't see any GM would want to do Rockets a favor and pay their tab.

I don't see what Rockets management has to gain by portraying Asik as disruptive? That only hurts his trade value, not only by calling character issues into attention but making the team appear desperate to move him.

Also, Woj has reported players wanting trades before without claiming they were a problem in the locker room. The organization or Asik himself could come out at any time and deny the reports if they weren't true.

Asik is just being a huge baby about this. The guy got taken out of the starting lineup one game and he had already requested a trade.

Don't see why people are saying Asik is being a baby. Word is that Morey promised him upon signing him that he would be the long-term starter. Now obviously you sign Dwight every chance you get, but I think it's reasonable that Asik is pissed that he's been replaced.

Asik should just ask to buyout his contract. At this point he's still owed around $20M, so I'd think a $8M buyout should be fair.

Asik should have known he was being lied too.. the day they offered him the 3 year contract... or the day Harden signed his longterm deal

Outsider's Opinion

I can't blame Asik for trying to force his way out of town. I would do the same if I was him.

He will significantly lower his potential earnings if he spends the next 2 years being a 15 mpg scrub. That role isn't anything like a 30 mpg Manu coming off the bench. In 15mpg he will have a highly difficult time demonstrating that he deserves a big contract.

Asik is a starting caliber center who could make a real contribution for any number of teams in the league. Asking Asik to be a 15mpg scrub is like asking a magna cum laude Harvard Law School grad to be a paralegal for 2 years when he in on year 2 of a 3 year contract. I'm sure that Harvard grad would make a great paralegal but why in the hell would he want to do that.

Management always says it is a business. It goes both ways. Many players aren't going to willingly destroy their career for an organization, rightly or wrongly, that they believed are liars.
