Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
I have been thinking whether or not Bogans reasonably sized expiring contract may garner something useful by the deadline. Can't really think of players at the moment that teams might try to move to cut salary that we might be interested in though.
Any ideas out there?

I think if it was to have any value, it would be at the draft. Depends on the date, but I am assuming that Celtics would have to make a decision on picking up the option by 30 Jun 14.
I am actually starting to believe that Bogans' biggest value may be as an expiring contract for Boston's own books.

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
So assuming the Asik trade goes through, the Celtics' cap number next year will be at ~$44-45 million, assuming the Asik trade goes through and the C's sign Craw/Bradley to their QO's. That's ~$18MM of cap space they could use for FA or trades.
There's some interesting names out there that the Celtics could add:
Guards:
Jerryd Bayless (having a down year, could be a good bounce-back candidate)
Rodney Stuckey
Eric Bledsoe (RFA and almost certainly not an option w/ Rondo here)
Kyle Lowry (only makes sense if Rondo leaves in a star-for-star trade)
Shaun Livingston
Jordan Farmar
Ben Gordon
Ray Allen (LOL)
Lance Stephenson
Wings (unlikely w/ Green/Wallace around to add here, but hey):
Jordan Hamilton (would be perfect next to Rondo, big breakout candidate)
Gordon Hayward (Stevens!)
Evan Turner
Luol Deng
Khris Middleton
Danny Granger
Draymond Green
Bigs:
Darrell Arthur (LOVE his game)
Greg Monroe (potential S&T candidate since the Smith/Drummond/Monroe trio isn't working well)
Pau Gasol (on the decline but still skilled if in the right role)
Dante Cunningham (nice depth big for cheap)
Ed Davis (still good upside with him)
Quincy Acy (love his energy)
Kosta Koufos
Marcin Gortat
Spencer Hawes
Jordan Hill (would like this kid as well, good pairing with a guy like Asik)
There's few/no stars out there but I see some solid depth that we could use to keep bolstering the roster. And of course this doesn't include trades, where we can obviously still make some hay with that cap space by absorbing a bad deal to get a stud.

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
I know plenty of people will hate this hypothetical but I like it:
1. Bass, Lee and Clips pick for Asik
2. Wallace, Green, Sully, Craw, (3) 1sts for Love
3. Sign Melo in FA. Plan B is Gordan Hayward
Rondo
Bradley
Melo
Love
Asik
That team is friggin stacked

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
Boston trades: Green, Crawford, 2014 BOS 1st
Milwaukee trades: Giannis A., Caron Butler, Nate Wolters
Would you do that if you were Milwaukee?

Green, Crawford, Sully AND 3 firsts for Love? That's a joke of a trade. He's a defensive liability albeit a very good scorer and rebounder. Love's a good player but I'm not sure he makes us a contender. I'm fine with trading for him, but not giving up our entire team and draft picks.

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
Dumping Wallace in the deal means we have to add extra picks / assets.
Love and Melo do have flaws but they are top players in the league. That team will be in contention for 5 years or more.

I wouldn't. They might as well tank at this point.

The guy is 6-10 and can defend shooting guards on the perimeter. He's by all appearances going to develop into an elite shot altering presence. He has a good enough handle to run offense through him. Presents a mismatch on offense because of his size. And he's two months older than Andrew Wiggins.
I'd grab him if we could if I'm Danny. Looks like Iggy's defensive presence and playmaking with upside to be more skilled on offense. That's a top 3 player on 50+ win team.

If I'm Milwaukee, I wouldn't trade Giannis for anything outside of an established star. He's their only chance right now at having a legitimate star.
I think the majority of Milwaukee fans would finally jump ship if they traded Giannis.

I don't know much about Gianni's except what I've read on this board. I don't think Mil will trade him.

If they get Asik, per the rumors, I think it's 45-46 million, without extending Bradley & Crawford, and stretching Wallace. Need to get to $40 million to fit Melo at the full max.
Asik 8.374
Sullinger 1.424
Green 9.2

Rondo 12.909
Olynyk 2.076
Faverani 2.09
Pick 1.5

Would it be poor form to dream up a single 15-team Trade-a-Palooza so I can have all my favorite players in the league on the Celtics?

Financially not impossible. Therefore there is a finite and integer number of trades that could make this happen.
5. Joakim Noah / Faverani, for the occasional flagrant
4. Nene Hilario / Jared Sullinger / dude named Kelly
3. Giannis Askjdjdkdjdkdboss / Doug "Whitemelo Anthony" McDermott
2. Klayton Thompson / Avery Bradley
1. Rajon Rondo / Jordan Crawford

How about we just pretend Brandan Wright is an honorary Celtic?

Right.
Brandan Wright, Big Bassy Smith, Wilson Chandler, Nicolas Batum, Greek Freak, Kyle Lowry, Andre Roberson, Dion Waiters, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Klay Thompson, Amir Johnson, Stephen Adams, Nate "Don't call me Rex" Wolters .. that's 14 of my favorites right there and I wasn't even trying. I already have a lot of guards I really like Robert Covington/Orlando Johnson as a lottery ticket. I am pretty high on Vitor Faverani, as well. Ok, I could give up on Lowry and add Vitor and Orlando Johnson to round out my top-15, I guess.

I had Smith, Chandler, and Batum in the chamber as well.
Surprised to see Waiters on that list, doesn't seem like your style

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
I had Waiters #5 in his draft class.
He hasn't fully translated but it's not 100% his fault, imo, as Kyrie is basically a reincarnation of Allen Iverson at this point.
At least in college, he scored a lot, could finish at the rim, was extremely active both on the ball and in passing lanes and I saw potential as a do-it-all sixth man early in his career with the potential to possibly be a star after some seasoning.
I have to change my list. Just realized I forgot Tony Mitchell (DET). I will swap out Orlando Johnson (though it pains me.)
