we were saying the same thing about Beal this time last year. And Beal didn't
miss anywhere near the time OP has. Let's wait until Feb or so before we get
too concerned. Right now we have the luxury of 2 quality SF and don't have to
put any pressure on OP.

What concern though? He barely had a Summer League, NO preseason or practices for almost 4 months. It's his what...4th game? Holy overreaction, Batman.

I agree. It's not me who is concerned. At least not yet. OP may struggle all year
and still eventually prove to be decent or maybe even better although if
he struggles all year, the odds of him eventually becoming good are clearly less.

It's more of a response to Nate. Otto was a pretty good college player, and he'll be a pretty good pro.

I was wondering what they were chanting. Couldn't tell.
If it was "overrated" at Wall, LOL.

Wall was the best player on the court again last night.
He should be as well vs Boston and we should win that one
unless the refs are even worse to us.

And his 2 best plays were on defense - the strip of Williams that he followed with a dunk - and the brilliant block at the end.

so what were the fans chanting?

I never heard any discernable chants, other than "Broooo-klyyyn" (to the tune of "Daaa-ryyll").

In fact, my friends and I had a whole conversation about why *that* Brooklyn chant had become the default chant for the team, as opposed to "Where Brooklyn at!" or "Go Brooklyn." The team clearly wants to push a hip hop aesthetic, but both of the aforementioned chants have longer-standing histories in hip hop culture than the chant they chose. In particular, I think the "Go Brooklyn" chant would be dope. But, that's just me.

As a hip hop head, I appreciate all of the nods to Brooklyn hip hop the Nets use in their in-game entertainment. Generous helpings of Biggie and Jay Z, with the occasional Gangstarr mixed in; intro music mixed/curated by Brooklyn-based mixtape DJ J. Period, etc.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

As long as Webster, Ariza and Beal make threes I don't see a problem with Gortat passing. The only one surprised me a lot was him under the rim and passing to Nene couple games ago. Marcin doesn't like to go to protected rim, because he can't jump high and is easy blocked, so he prefers to pass the ball to 3-point shooter.

I don't think he's scared so much as he's going for a higher percentage shot. Don't mistake his kindness for weakness.

Melo had 3 easy blocks. He(MG) lost confidence and started to pass more. That's why he even don't make midrange open shots, he knows it's not his day. I don't care is it weakness or kindness but it's a fact.

Ok. Well let me ask you if you think it's a good thing or a bad thing, or is it just a thing?

Passes to teammates for open shots are good, but I don't like those with 6-7 sec left back to John or another guard and reseting the play, because they have usually forced shots.

Btw. We were lucky at Knicks, Chandler was ready for another game vs. Bucks.

You sound like yourself from a year ago talking about Beal. Have a little faith.

The difference with Beal, though, what that he was both playing and shooting. The problem was he just wasn't making very many shots. Porter would have to actually get into the rotation and work his way UP to where a struggling Beal was at the beginning of last season.

And I don't think that being hopeful about Porter's future and acknowledging he's literally giving the team nothing at the moment are mutually exclusive concepts. Where it'll become an issue is when the team has to decide how to proceed in the offseason. But that's a ways away, so let's see how thing play out.

I don't get posts like this. No one is panicking. No one is saying he's going to be a complete bust. But it's not unreasonable to discuss his currently underwhelming play. Maybe its foolish to expect more from him at this point but I still think he should be contributing more than he is. This is a forum. Excuses should not eliminate criticism regardless of the situation.

Underwhelming play? More like non-existent play. He's only played 50 minutes on the season.

I don't understand why people are in such a hurry to pass judgement on young players.

That clutch 3 by Beal and that clutch block by Wall were fantastic.

I think that is a glimpse into the future of that duo. Beal is the closer, Wall is the stopper. Thats how it should be.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

I was talking about Wall.

I think Marcin has been a bit intimidated by guys with more size.
He'll come around. He's struggled shooting lately but I'm guessing
he could easily bounce back against BOS. Who they got playing C?
