Re: MVP discussion thread
Looks like Durant is going to come out of the 4th early again. His line at the moment is
32 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 13-20 fg, 4-5 3pt, 2-2 ft, 33 minutes
I love it when players can get one point a minute while doing everything else as well

Thunder look like the class of the league at the moment and KD is the driving force. If they get a better record than the Heat, I think he's extremely likely to get MVP.

This is the best the thunder as a whole has looked, especially chemistry wise. It helps that no one questions westbrooks impact on that team anymore.

They still do...just got into a debate on the trade board, ugh. Another awesome game for KD though, 32/9/6 on 20 shots. Hey only 2 FTs, where's all the complaints about refs?

Of course you're going to have people that still do. But as awhile even in the media the Russ hate has died down so much. No more imagine how "good okc would be if Russ realized he has the second best player on the planet on his team"

All it took was Russ getting a torn meniscus.

He's on pace to have a better season than he did in 08 and no one talks about it. SMH.
That's because in our backwards sport, we'd rather rank and award individual players by team accomplishments.
I wouldn't say that. CP3 and Durant are the leaders of their offense, and everything on the offense is shaped after them, so it's reasonable to contextualize all their statistic analysis in their teams' statistic analysis. Chris Paul is leading a more experimented roster to a slightly better offensive record (not even a full point over Durant), which says a lot about Durant himself.
The fact that CP3 is behind Durant imo says more about Durant himself. Also, you have to atualize this numbers, Durant took back WS totals and PER spots away from CP3.
With LeBron, this is the creme de la creme of the NBA, as individuals.
Props to Lost92Bricks for bringing that up.

I don't. It's a team game. Durant and CP3 aren't puppeteers who can dictate their teammate's performances on strings.

Durant are the leaders of their offense,
Isn't Westbrook the leader of OKC's offense. He has the ball in his hand the most. Even though he's coming of an injury he's contributing 21 points and 7 assists. He does most of the ball handing.

Yup. Westbrook is as important to the OKC offense as is KD.
But hey, Westbrook is throwin' bricks, he's stupid and overrated. Advanced stats are sayin that he's been better than KD for 2 years now? Whatever, he's Westbrick. OKC is playing horrible without him? Whatever, he can't control offense like CP3.
And so on...

Would love to see those because I think they might be from imaginary land. Anyway, Westbrook is a point guard and 2nd offensive option on OKC, obviously he's important. He might be a leader of offense in the same way Stockton was (not even close to same playmaking ability though), even though Malone was the most important player.
KD is almost always a positive on offense, can you really say the same for Russell? He still has stretches where he is making dumb decisions and throwing up bricks, like pull up 3's when half of the team still has not crossed half court line.

Re: MVP discussion thread
RAPM is the most advanced NBA stat and it clearly shows that Westbrook>Durant.
Actually, eye test confirms that if you are not biased. KD got his hype after 2011 season. After that he wasn't that great and OKC success is mainly due to RW.
And yes, in that season he was much better player than Russel. And it seems like people still look at Westbrook as a player from that season.

wow, you use one advanced stat that is so rarely used and even that shows Durant >>>Westbrook, unless you have a different link. KD has been better every single year.
http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/ratings/2013.html
And rest of your post seems like it was made for green font. Kd wasnt that great since 2011? He just had a career year last season. And eye test of 99% of people will affirm Durant is the most important OKC player, as subjective as it is.

This is one point of view. Would you say Kobe was the leader of the three-peat offense because he saw the ball on his hands more? That Pippen was the leader of the offense because he held the ball more than Jordan? Stockton was the leader because he was the ball handler of all those Jazz teams?
Other point of view: the leader of an offense is the one that the offense is designed after. The one who contributes the most on a teams win. The one who deliver the biggest production consistently, and the show goes on... One aspect in the game tell us Westbrook is the leader of the offense, every other says Durant. Should I stay or should I go?

I use my eyetest. And after what I saw last year in the playoffs Durant literally is worth nothing but empty stats without Westbrook. And the differnce between LeBron and Durant in my opinion is that LeBron is efficient no matter what whether Durant is only efficient with Westbrook as a playmaker and primary ballhandler.

Welp.
Even though I'm an OKC fan, I now wish Durant was injured instead of Westbrook. I wonder what OKC could do then.
Miami without LeBron roughly equals OKC without Durant. I say "roughly", because Miami's offense is designed around LeBron, whereas OKC's is not. That doesn't say Durant is nearly as important to OKC though. Try to look a bit deeper.

Re: MVP discussion thread
^okc to me is a sum of all things. Take Westbrook off, the team will struggle to generate efficient team offence and kd's efficiency suffers. Take away kd, they drop in the standings. Take away ibaka and you no longer have that guy that anchors your defence. I remember yesterday bulls were scared or put it back up after offensive rebounding, you never see that in Miami. Difference with Lebron is you can take away a wade or a bosh but lebrons play won't falter, we've seen it in Cleveland and even in his time in Miami, playoffs or RS.

I would love it if they hand Westbrook the MVP (if he ups his stats to 24/7).
