Reassessing the terms of our future Draft picks

It is what it is fellas. You knew I was against the whole tanking idea, but with the tough luck with injuries to key players we really didnt have a chance this season. Its no reason to even allow Kobe to come back this year. Focus on retaining a couple of these guys and try to get a good pick. Move Pau around the trade deadline to the highest bidder and try to nab another draft pick from the deal if we can. That Nash trade haunts us more and more it seems. (No real fault to Steve though, wasnt his fault he broke his leg).

Heres probably the most important part from Larry Coon about our draft picks in the next up and coming seasons. Obviously the 2013 lost pick wouldnt matter today because its already happened

2013: Whatever first round pick the Lakers end up with will go to Phoenix. It will have the lesser of its own and Dallas’ second round picks, and will have Memphis’ second round pick if it falls 56-60.

*2014: The Lakers will have their own first round pick, but will not have a second round pick.

*2015: The Lakers will have their own first round pick if it is in the top five, otherwise it will go to Phoenix. The Lakers will keep their second round pick if it’s 31-40, otherwise it goes to Orlando.

*2016: The Lakers will have their own first round pick if they sent their 2015 pick to Phoenix or the pick is 1-5, otherwise it goes to Phoenix. They have their own second round pick.

*2017: This pick goes to Phoenix if the Lakers haven’t already sent a pick to the Suns and it’s not in the top three. If they sent a pick to Phoenix in 2015 then this pick goes to Orlando if it’s not in the top five -- otherwise they keep it. If the Lakers don’t send a first round pick to Phoenix by 2017 then Orlando gets the Lakers’ 2017 second round pick; otherwise the Lakers keep it.

*2018: If the Lakers haven’t yet given Phoenix a first round pick then the Suns get it unconditionally. If the Lakers sent a first round pick to Phoenix by 2016, haven’t yet sent a pick to Orlando, and the pick is not in the top five, then Orlando gets it, otherwise the Lakers keep it. If the Lakers don’t send a first round pick to Phoenix by 2017 then Orlando gets the Lakers’ 2018 second round pick, otherwise the Lakers keep it.

*2019: If the Lakers sent a first round pick to Phoenix by 2017 and Orlando has not received a first round pick then Orlando gets their first round pick, otherwise the Lakers keep it. The Lakers have their own second round pick.

So basically Mitch and Jim got a really tough job on their hands. I'd sit Kobe the rest of this season, let him heal up going into next season. BTW fire this coach at the end of this season please. The guy is gonna run Kobe into his basketball tombstone (unless its already happened)

Yeah the important thing is that we have our pick this season no matter what so we should maximize our chances at making sure its a high pick.

I'd say young, farmar, Wes, x, and hill would all be lottery picks at their current skill level.

We need to lose games like it's nothing,the only thing that would make this season look better it's getting a top 5 pick
Let Kobe get his rest,no need to rush him back and suffer another long term injury....hopefully we'll be in a big enough hole by the time he is healed to get his **** together and realise resting for the season is the best thing to do

High pick + fresh Kobe + lots of cap space....maybe even we can build a legit team who will be competitive as soon as next year

I'm down trimming the roster some more and try to get 1 or 2 more picks in return....I see in the mocks guys who were lottery bound last years but decided to return to school not even making the 1st round...

Long story short.....the Lakers will hand over that pick to the Suns hopefully by 2015. Those things are conditional and based on how quickly the team wants to rebuild and contend, we'll be better and the pick will be meaningless to a degree. ESPN must be stupid if they think the Lakers are going to let that situation fester beyond 2015.

And common sense tells you the Lakers won't ever finish that low for a pick to be that high to surrender. Now that's the fantasy the haters want to see, but I'm gonna bust that bubble....the Lakers have never finished that low in my lifetime here on earth. You're never going to see the Lakers post a lower than 30 win season.

The lowest wins they had in the last 20 years was 33 in 93-94, 31 ( in a strike shortened season in 99) and 34 in 04-05.

Your 100% right DEEP but idk if our F.O. is on the same page in regards to game planning. We have the wrong coach for the playing style the best players on our roster fit because their older. And of course Mike D. basketball will win games when the 3 ball is going in but man we're in some trouble in regards to our pick situation after this year. I just think we needed to maximize the opportunity in this years draft. But I'm all in for whatever the Front office really decides to do because in the end they probably do have a game plan. Still not a fan of this coach
